Can't get any bibles?

so according to people in every congregation i've mentionned it to, the slave isn't producing any more bibles.

at first i thought that they were going to release an updated translation, like the updated brochures that were given at the latest convention, but that didn't happen, and everyone from the branch claims that there is "a reason for it", yet they're being extremely secretive.. .

can anyone who's got ties to bethel help me out here?

I thought they were running out the last edition, as there is a new edition being released at the DC.

Though I've decided to stop believing the WT society, things like this make me nervous that there's a possibility they might have been right, as they did say they'd stop accepting new members before the system ends.

That is not a logical reason to think it may be right, and indicates you have not yet proven to yourself why the religion is not true. I recommend doing some diligent research into the religion, cults and mind control, so as to clear these fears. It takes a long time to overcome the indoctrination, along with a lot of effort, but it is worth it so as not to have a life controlled by fear.

per the ministry school schedule, the bible reading continues in the book of acts.

in chapter 12 king herod arrests peter and throws him in prison, meaning to "produce him" for the jews after the passover (evidently to be executed).

an angel appears to peter in prison, releases his bonds and walks him out of the gate of the jail.

Typical Watchtower Eisegesis. The Watchtower makes the Scripture fit the belief they want to hold. When they have so many variables regarding who goes to heaven and when the resurrection will begin, they are unable to create consistently logical answers.

They don't want it to be Peter's wandering spirit and they don't want to suggest it is a guardian angel, the two most likely interpretations. So they try to make it appear Jewish Christians were inaccurately describing what they really meant, that it was an angelic messenger representing Peter.

"Even Jehovah uses the word please." Neither of the Scriptures referred to at the start mention Jehovah saying please. I wonder what passage they are referring to, and why they just throw some random unreferenced comment like that in.

Firstly Caleb runs in demanding food, yet in the replay he walks in before politely saying please. Is that some subliminal message that good children should not run?

the british humanist association (bha) and the european humanist federation (ehf) have welcomed the new guidelines.. the new guidelines, adopted by the council of foreign affairs ministers of the eu, aim to help the eu to promote freedom of religion and belief in countries outside the eu, and to take action on violations of this right.

they protect the non-religious as well as the religious.

That is fantastic. I am sick of atrocities being done in the guise of "freedom of religion." There is no reason why a religious leader should be able to force their followers to break the law on claims that their God says it should be so. I wonder how much affect this will have on religious incited racism, sexism and bigotry.

What if JW.org Was Hacked?

what would the governing body do if their precious website were hacked and redirected to one such as this or jw struggle for hours or even days?

what if their site was hacked to expose ttatt on the front page, and their video content replaced by videos from people like thesnarkyapologist or danmera?.

what do you think the damage control strategy would be like?.

replace their videos with gay porn..............no wait they might like that.........ahhhhhhhhhh nevermind.

I think porn is probably a bigger issue than apostate sites, so that could have a more drastic affect on publisher numbers.

I always read these letters, even though they anger me. It sounds like my mother, and is intriguing how the Watchtower is able to turn people into such mindless drones.

As Peter said to Jesus when asked if he wanted to leave....Where can we go?

It is amazing how almost every time I read a letter that discusses what Peter says to Jesus, it uses the word where instead of whom. That is a great indication of how strongly the Watchtower has replaced Jesus with the organisation in followers minds.

he just kept on coming and partaking until he was reinstated.

Years ago there was a teenage boy that became anointed in my childhood congregation, but left the religion shortly afterwards.
In my last congregation was an anointed middle-aged elder that everyone thought was nuts. He was a naturopath, with a wife who was constantly sick.
His daughter became anointed in her late teens, seemed to have a high opinion of her father, but no one accepted her anointing behind her back
Another in that congregation became anointed who was very unusual. He was later disfellowshipped for lewd acts, including drawing naked pictures of sisters in the congretation
And then there was Geoff Jackson, whose family in law studied with my parents. His anointed seemed very much to be a career move.

apparently it's not on general release, only being viewed during co visits at the moment.

I cannot imagine Geoff mixing up antidote and anecdote, maybe it is the Tasmania/Aussie/Tuvaluan/Fijian/US accent that is tough to understand.

Then there were American families who have moved to Ecuador to preach where the need is greater. The father said it was important to focus on their children to make sure they make the truth their own. Reading between the lines you would almost conclude that they had moved their children thousands of miles away and immersed them in a foreign culture and preaching full time just in order to forestall the possibility of them leaving the truth as they grow up.

A sister from my congregation in Australia went with her 3 children to preach in Ecuador for a couple of years about 10 years ago. One son stopped going to meetings shortly after arriving home to Australia. The other two also ended up leaving and are all very good friends of mine.

last month i agreed with on this issue.

he asked why the change, i told him that i have been doing some soul searching.

Whilst your intentions are sound, I am not sure that the method is correct. JW children do not end up with better morals, in my experience. A large portion end up leaving the religion, and end up with a lot of anger, confusion, and miss out on a normal upbringing and development of a social circle.

If your child leaves the religion, then they are forced in later life to develop the boundaries that they should have developed during adolescence. When I left, I realised that everything I thought had been dictated by leaders that I no longer trusted. Therefore, I had no idea what my stance was on anything. I am in more 40's and my new friends find me quite interesting in that I behave like I am in my 20's.

That is brilliant. The JW came up with an ingenious way to appease her own conscience.
