She loves being a JW more than she loves you. You don't want to live playing second fiddle to the org. Who knows though, you have given her some points to think about. Maybe she will realize she loves you and that what you said makes sense, and come looking for you.

Critique of Mar 2014 Awake on Creation by Alan Feuerbacher
by jwfacts inalan feuerbacher has written a tremendous critique of the march 2014 awake!, which contains a grossly dishonest discussion on creation.
the pdf file can be downloaded from awake_march_2014_creation_critique.pdf.
it highlights watchtower use of poor and contradictory reasoning..

Thanks for the comments, some great points have been made.
Vidiot - Creationists reject evolution for ideological reasons, their worldview really gives them little choice in the matter.
I particularly enjoyed what you wrote. Whilst I agree with your summary of the Creationist mindset, there are ways to marry Creation, Evolution, the Bible and the Ransom. God can be the first cause, evolution progressed, and the evolved man eventually became sinful and needed Jesus Ransom. Or animals evolved and God then made humans, but maybe sometime longer than 6000 years ago - Genesis becomes figurative. Since civilisation is little more than 6000 years old, a thinking person can feel justified in accepting the Bible time-frames of Adam.
It is difficult for people to change their beliefs, and so a religions rarely make dramatic changes rapidly, but I think there are enough ways to match the Bible and Science, mixing figurative and literal interpretations, that it will be possible to hold to what seems a logical merge of the Ransom, Creation and Science for many years to come. The Watchtower at least tries to be more Scientific than young earth Creationists, which leaves JWs (who are not willing to scratch too far below the surface) thinking they have a very solid belief system.

The Battle of ArmageddonÂ… LOL.
by transhuman68 ini was looking through a watchtower publication that i bought recently, and found this quote about children & armageddon:.
our theme "rearing children in divine favor" does not refer to the rearing of the children of armageddon survivors in that new world when all surrounding conditions and all forces in operation will be toward helping those who live to do righteousness.
no; but it refers to rearing children who are born now before the battle of armageddon.

"most of those children who stayed JWs are now teaching their grandchildren they will never finish school"
That's the most difficult part to comprehend. These people know they were misled, yet continue with the same lies to their own children.

First indisputable link between aluminum and alzheimer's
by EndofMysteries inhttp://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/02/140212093300.htm.
elevated brain aluminium, early onset alzheimer's disease in an individual occupationally exposed to aluminiumdate:february 12, 2014 source:keele university summary:research has shown for the first time that an individual who was exposed to aluminum at work and died of alzheimers disease had high levels of aluminum in the brain.
while aluminum is a known neurotoxin and occupational exposure to aluminum has been implicated in neurological disease, including alzheimers disease, this finding is believed to be the first record of a direct link between alzheimers disease and elevated brain aluminum following occupational exposure to the metal.

technically no, rutherford didn't just dream up alumimum being dangerous, he took it from other research and stories going on.
The reason there was so much discussion about aluminium during Rutherford's time is that production of aluminium had not become commercially feasible until the 1880s, and so as is common with anything that is new, some people were concerned about the long term effects. Personally, I think the reason Rutherford hated it was because the original manufacturing companies were making a lot of money out of aluminium production.

It can show correlation but not causation.
Exactly. There are millions of people with Alzheimers that don't have high traces aluminium, so I don't see how they can claim causation from one person with high aluminum level. Futhermore, this person had extreme levels of exposure that cannot be related to a person that may have small exposure to aluminium.
Aluminum is the 3rd most abundant element on earth and occurs naturally in the body in small amounts.

Eccentric Jehovah's Witnesses
by snowbird inso as not to hijack logcon's thread about crazy things jw's have said to householders, i'd like to start one about just plain old odd jw's.. for example, i knew this dear, dear senior brother who would carry a small bag of peanuts in one pocket of his suit coat and a small plastic bag of brown sugar in the other.. during that time, we would stay out all day long because the territory was extensive.. can't you just picture that precious soul alternately tossing a few peanuts/crumbs of sugar into his mouth as he schlepped from house to trailer, from trailer to house?.
the householders would usually offer us water, lemonade, kool-aid, or soda pops, so no problem with finding something to quench our thirsts.. those were the days!.

Reminds me of many JWs I have known. The craziest were often the ones most devoted to the field service. I guess with few friends or family there was not much else to take up their time. I was always embarrassed that they were what people judge JWs by. No wonder few convert, and it was disturbing that Jehovah would have to kill so many people at Armageddon, because they did not listen to the "life-saving" message delivered by some wierd stranger on their door.

Author McEwan condemns Jehovah's Witnesses as 'perverse and inhumane'
by Watchtower-Free inhttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/10728126/mcewan-condemns-perverse-and-inhumane-decisions-of-religious-parents.html.
non religious people are better at making reasonable, compassionate judgements, ian mcewan argues, as he condemns the "utterly perverse and inhumane" decision of religious parents allowing their children to die.. mcewan, the author of atonement, on chesil beach and enduring love, said he believed religion to be "distinctly unhelpful" in making rational choices.. his new book, the children's act, will explore the issues of the family courts, and the heartbreaking decisions faced when parents insist their child must die for religious reasons.. speaking at the oxford literary festival, mcewan used the examples of jehovah's witnesses who refused a blood transfusion for their son, and catholic parents who insisted their conjoined twins must not be separated.. his plot, finished only last week, will follow the judge's decision on whether to save the stronger twin at the expense of his dying brother.. .
when asked whether he had learned anything from his time observing medical decisions in the family courts, he said: "i found generally that religion was distinctly unhelpful in making compassionate, reasonable judgments about people's lives.. "on the whole, the secular mind seems far superior in making reasonable judgments.. "especially with the jehovah's witness, where parents allow their children to die because of some theological line invented in 1945 by a committee, seems to be utterly perverse and inhumane.".
