i remember the first time i was hit with my loves cult personality.
knowing the real him, my jaw dropped witnessing this switch.
i thought he had lost it.
It is a great question. I am not qualified to add any weight to the matter, but I have seen the phase shift that occurs when you speak to a JW, and they stop properly thinking and start reciting information.
Strangely, my Bible Study Conductor spoke to me about how sometimes when witnessing someone would ask a question, and he would recall an answer that he had forgotten he knew, and how it must have been the Holy Spirit taking him over. I don't think it is anything so sinister, but rather just subconsciously recalling part of your indoctrination.

i have updated the article at memorial partakers with the figures released for 2014. no surprises here, it has risen yet again, this time by 6% over last year, and is now 14,121.. .

Heisenberg - as I mentioned, 60% of the Watchtower followers left after 1925, so I counted 60% of that number. Memorial attendance was less than 20,000 in 1928.

little-Socrates, I would estimate that there has been over 144,000 Watchtower/JW partakers.
In 1925 there were . About 60% of these people left when 1925 did not eventuate.
90,434 in 1925"
Watchtower 1960 May 1 p.282
In 1935, when the doctrine changed, there were 52,000 partakers.
"Year ...... Att. ...... Part.
1935 ...... 63,146 ... 52,465"
Jehovah's Witnesses - Proclaimers of God's Kingdom p.717
In 2014, there were 14,121.
Therefore 54260 (60% of 90434) plus 52,465, plus 14121 already equals 120846. That does not count all the partakers from the 1800's, and the ones between 1935 and 2014 that were not included in any of these figures and have already died.

One of my favourite figures is the new high, or should it be termed low, of 7060 hours preaching required to get 1 baptism.

Kairos here is the graph for the number that stopped publishing; that is, the difference between the number baptised and the increase in average publishers. Whilst the number was exactly 106,000, to be fair the number that died needs to be factored in, taking the amount that leave to 80,000.

One of my favourite graphs regards the declining conversion rate.
This must be what concerns the Governing Body most. This has dropped dramatically, with the Annual Number Baptised compared to Average Monthly Studies falling from a high of around 1 in 5 (22%) prior to 1975, to now a mere 1 in 33 (3%). During the 1980's and 1990's the conversion rate was consistently around 8%. This has steadily declined to less than 3% in 2014. (Please note that this is a comparative rate, not an exact one, as it is based on "average monthly Bible studies", and some Bible Studies may extend for years, whilst others for less than one year.)
Whilst the number of baptisms rises with the number of publishers, the number getting baptised each year is actually less than its peak in the 1990s.
