Ray Franz was an Idiot
by vinman inray franz who gave us insight into the gb due to a crisis of conscience was an absolute moron, with absolutely no critical thinking skills whatsoever like all of us have.
i mean, to have a conscience based on some magic man in the sky.. how stupid can you be?
in search of christian freedom?

Ray Franz left in a time well before the internet and Youtube. I have nothing but respect for those who left during this time.
Personally, can I criticize anyone about how they left? I am just thankful he did leave and his words gave me much consolation during those first weeks. They also helped wake my wife up and led her to do further research.
I fully recommend Franzs' honest book. It is absent of vitriolic writing. He simply tells it like it was....Is leaving easy for anyone??? What he speaks can now be fully researched online as well.

Having One Of Those "Pondering Disassociation" Days :(
by freemindfade inthere are a lot of things that make me have days like this, the utter embarrassment of being are part of a cult that protects child abusers, that enforces emotional brutality through shunning, and that lies constantly.
the lying i can tolerate, the world is built on bullshit, i have a high lie tolerance.
i can ignore it if it has no effect on me etc.

The way I saw it, I made a public declaration when I joined. It takes the same to leave. I was surprised how I grew once the 'severance' was final. Trust me...you will make new friends, and those who would rather support a cult?...you don't want them anyway.
However, the wife being a pioneer makes it difficult. Perhaps this bold stand would be just the thing to wake her up as well. By fading, she is lkely still holding onto hope you will return....
Just my two cents.

Canadian branch getting rid of their trucks and drivers
by wannaexit ina recent letter to the elders outlined the new arrangement for delivering literature to the congregations.
the canadian branch will be downsizing by eliminating drivers and trucks and utilizing commercial carriers to bring the boxes of monthly literature .
more outsourcing and more lay offs.. the funny thing about it is that they want to have the literature delivered to various private homes of the rank and file rather than have the literature delivered to the kingdom hall.

Sending away those who have slaved away for so many years is just plain immoral. I wonder what those brothers and sisters will recieve by way of a pension? Perhaps a little E.I.? -

The 'Theocratic Warfare' term is still used, however, it is kept to higher levels in the borg. When I served as an international servant in Paraguay, the missionaries would take us into unassigned territory. To get past the army check points, we would show them our NGO(Non-Government Org.) cards issued from the United Nations.
I asked about these cards, and I was told it was all part of Jehovahs' theocratic warfare...and to keep it under my hat.
Why i didnt wake up sooner...

Quality Thinking - Warning: Long Post Ahead
by Viviane inrecently, several threads have had some debate about logic, evidence, critical thinking and skepticism.
i wanted to write a post discussing those things, hopefully to clarify what those things are, why they are important and how to use those tools.
first, logic, at its core, is simply a method for how to reason validly, how to draw conclusions based on a premise.

Where did you learn about Boolean operations?
Great logic here. Loved it.

A brilliant psychologist
by voodoo lady ini've been seeing a brilliant psychologist.
he has been pivotal in drawing the parallels between my jw upbringing - specifically the hypocrisy i saw as a child - and the reason i've tolerated lies and inconsistencies in my most significant adult relationship.. i've seen one other psychologist in the past.
she didn't get the issues surrounding the religion whatsoever, didn't regard that aspect of my backstory as relevant, and was of little help to me.. has anyone else seen a psychologist - whether for help with coping in the aftermath of leaving the religion, or for seemingly unrelated issues that actually turned out to be related?

Hi voodoo!
Yes, I have been seeing a clinical psycologist for many years (not a counselor ...lol) and she has truly helped me vacate the guilt of being in the organization. The lies had really done a number to me and the therapy was always positive. She helped me to appreciate that I was not bipolar as some had said, but was suffering from post-cult after effects. Symptoms were depression and suicidal thoughts, sense of isolation, guilt(of course, right) and confusion over right and wrong.
I am so happy you found your way out! Keep up with the sessions. I hope they make you feel a world better! We deserve to be free! 😄

Growing number of memorial partakers explained(?) by local elder
by stillin ini brought this up in a conversation after today's meeting.
the elder knowingly acknowledged the growing number and pointed out that of course, now we understand why this is so.
i gave my best blank stare and said "we do?

It is very clear from this overlapping graph below on memorial partakers. Any 'real' JW understands this...

I have had more time to hit the gym and read some very good novels. I am taking PT courses at a local university in the evenings(on the old meeting nights) and have got involved with a charity. I feel bad for not being more charitable when under their veil. Why are they so uncharitable? -

Any answer will do...
by snare&racket inevery jw is subconsciously taught to plough on with their message at any cost, including, ironically, the truth.. we all did it, we all defended our beliefs or partook in bible studies, where we made up an answer on the spot with the only motivation being to get past the question and back to the sales pitch, or back to the sanctioned questions, in their books.
something that bugs me to this day!
who is so controlling so as to even provide people with their own questions!!!.
