i'm just curious to know where my parents register on the scale of strictness...
growing up, i felt absolutely smothered by my parents (mostly my mother).
the things i couldn't do were above and beyond the limitations put on the other young people in our hall.

Hi Stilla, how did you make it without Xena? If you have cable on one of the women channels (We, Oxygen or Lifetime can't remember which) they paly reruns in the morning. I always watch when I am getting ready in the morning. Love that show.

That is so sad, I would have cried my eyes out if that had happened to me. Which turtle was it? maybe we can send one out your way for the holidays.

maybe this only happens in urban neighborhoods but when i was growing up, many dubs engaged in street work, basically offering the magazines to people on the street as they walked to a destination.. usually it was an area with a lot of foot traffic at a time when many people would travel the area.. did you or people in your congo engage in this and were there any funny stories relating to this practice?
Thank you for making me cry Dfed. I am not joking about this, what I am going thorugh is nothing that you can understand. Jesus can do what he wants to and I will do what I need to do. Is that clear?

Bluesbrother, all I can say is that I have my reasons for doing this on Sat. No one has to agree with me and no one has to like it, this is a decision that did not come easy for me. The only reason I can do streetwork is because I only get out of the car once maybe twice and that is the only thing that makes it easier for me to go out there. I haven't been door to door in over a year and I have not done streetwork in six months? I never turn in time.Sometimes you have to do things you don't like in order to avoid situations that you are not ready to deal with yet.
Thats all I can say.

Twinflame the thing is with streetwork we spend 95% of the time in the car and drive half way around town so you really don't speak to alot of people, sure you place alot of mags but thats it. You have no real converstations just "hi good morning my name is.....would you like something to read?" most of the people in the area will take the mags.because they don't want to be rude but I highly doubt that anyone actually reads them.

In my congregation we did two forms of street work, the first is to find an area where there are tons of people (bus stops are always the #1 choice) the other is to drive around in the car and stop at bus stops if you spotted someone, laundery mats and gas stations. You can place so many mags doing this ( I think no one has been able to match my numbers). We always started at five in the morning, I always placed more mags than anyone in our car groups because I speak both Eng. and Spanish so if the car group though that someone in the bus stop only spoke spanish I was sent out to speak with them.
It was fun we drove around listened to music and always stopped for breakfast. I am actually going out on Sat for a few hours.

Darth I didin't mean any harm. I guess it bothers me because that was one of my favorite shows. I still watch them when I can. Should we tape some episodes and send them to him? No boy should ever have to be without the turtles, Spiderman or Batman, it is un American and wrong.
Really I meant nothing by what I said. I do find it so sad that so many could not enjoy harmless things like theses tv shows. My heart goes out to all who had to forsake these things in order to please "jah"

Richie it is teenage mutant ninga turtles, super as far as I know was never a part of their name.
and now I have the theme song stuck in my head...

when i joined many years ago, i really thought that they were almost perfect.....*cough*.
and then i noticed that many were in their 2nd and 3rd marriage..... after i noticed that many were playing lotto, talking against others in the congregation.... and just yesterday, noticed that some *good* witnesses drive way beyond the speed limit.. so, more and more, i realize that they are just like everyone else, not worse, not better, but just a little more hypocrite.
JH, funny you should bring this up, yesterday was our service meeting and the special needs talk was about, the problem with people gossiping and the slander that was going on the congregation. Loving org. isin't it?
