How about just telling the "sister" that in accordance with the recommendations of the WTB&TS, you enjoy talking to her, but you are unavailable, as the end is sooooo close, you feel all of your energy has to be directed towards the preaching work and you'll have to wait until the new system to commit yourself to marriage. After all that is the purpose of dating according to the WTB&TS, to find a mate.
If that doesn't work, get caller ID!
You're 18? GO TO COLLEGE...move out....get a job...escape!
PS if nothing else, she'll tell all the other young single women she knows what a great catch you are. We all know any unavailable male, remotely associated with the congo, is a magnet to single witness women!

Weird Field Service Experiences

i remember one when i was aux pioneering- some guy said he belived in 'the book of the yellow man' which he said was based on the belief that aliens came to earth in a hot air balloon and created mankind... or something like that.
he was an odd chap.

I know I've already posted here, but bear with me....I think you'll all find this not only strange but funny!
Many years ago, we were constantly reading in the mags about witnesses in foreign countries being physically persecuted (spelling???) because they would not get government political ID cards.......well I grew up going door to door in a resort area......hundreds of thousand of residents in the summer that dwindles to a couple thousand in the winter.......ripe for the picking all those vacant homes full of furniture, tv's and sterios!
Sooooo the local police (they covered this 18 mile long 1 mile wide island) came to the congregation and asked us to have our finger prints taken and put on file! Well, at first there was great distress, was "big brother" trying to track us, did this violate our rights? After sitting with the police and actually listening to their reasoning and then clearing it with the GB, the Congo Overseer and committee requested......all of the Pioneers (I was one) and a specific number of publishers go in and have their finger prints taken. We then were the group that most often worked this territory, particularly in the winter (bear in mind this is an island, 6 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean.....winters were a joy, she says tonge in cheek).
Oh, I never told you why the police wanted the prints......it was to rule us out when the houses were broken into....our fingerprints were on file as to having knocked on the doors or opened the outer door to knock on the inner door. As far as I know they're still on file, because I used a copy of them to get my gun permit (that's another story).

I don't know about where you're from, but down here in Florida a person of color calling a person a "cracker" is a racial insult and not allowed...union or not (it's as bad and unacceptable as using the "n" word and in accordance with the WTB&TS neither term should be used), also her attitude toward your racial background is also a violation of your civil rights and could possibly fall under the Federal guidelines of "hate crimes" . Perhaps you should talk to your supervisor...what she is doing is creating a hostile work environment and violating others "civil rights", I realize your position there, but as a union rep it is your responsibility to not only work with the company to insure that all of the employees get their proper wages, benefits, etc., but it is also your responsibility to make sure the company prevents harassment in the work place, be it sexual, racial or religious and it sounds to me like she's hitting 2 out of 3.
And from one "fluffy butt" to another......if we weren't supposed to be a little fluffy, there wouldn't be calories in food"

War of the Worlds made so much $$$$$ because it is a Spielberg movie and in spite of TC being in it! Also, it had no other movies being released against it on a tree day holiday weekend.
I don't think I'll ever go out of my way to watch a TC movie again, because of the way he has been carrying on with KH and particularly because of the way he acted while being interviewed by Matt Lauer and his cracks about Brook Shields PPD. He and his Scientologists sound just like the JW's they insist you convert before they will marry you and push, push, push for your money!

After sitting here over the last couple of days, reading the 7 pages of postings....I just gotta say...I LOVE THIS BOARD! It is so nice to be able to discuss all these differant subjects without being told I'm being untheocratic!
I've promised by daughter (she's the 17 year old) a trip to England in 2006 as a reward if she does well this year in school (yeh I know it's bribery, but I'll do almost anything to keep her in school). Maybe by that time I'll know some of you a little better and we can get together for a drink or two!
And yes, the North vs the South thing in the US is getting old, take it from a Rebel, born in New Jersey..just south of the Mason-Dixon line! I've always said I'm a damned Yankee with a Rebel's heart!

My mother through her 40+ years of social climbing and connections at Bether.....hasn't mentioned anything about the Williams sister being df'd or reproved. When MJ did thriller, it was mentioned from the platform that his conduct was questionable.....dear mom had word from "headquarters" that MJ had eventually withdrawn from the "truth" or is that disassociated himself? Whatever, I'll bet the GB cried of the loss of all that $$$$$

15 degrees (-10 degrees wind chill factor) January day, three homes from the Ocean on the Jersey Shore...walking the block at 13 years old with another 13 year old sister (happened to be the daughter of the Ministry School Overseer)....lady answers the door and tells me "I'm sorry, I'm not interested I have my own religion" to which I answer..."that's okay, but why are you sorry, at least your religion doesn't make you knock on peoples door on days this cold". I turned and left the door.....companion and I giggling.....unfortunately she thought it was so funny, she told her parents about it at dinner that night. Needless to say, I had a meeting with the committee of three.
It felt so good, it was worth it!

He stood for the National Athem and is still alive!

this past sunday the husband and i went to the car races at near by speed way to watch the races and the fireworks that is put on there everyyear on the 4th of july ,usually he heads to the bathroom is his excuse not to stand for the athem but this time when it was announced for all to stand he looked at me as i was rising and said to me " do you want me to stand ,and i said yes ,you are only standing so what is the big deal".
i was so happy just for the fact that he stood there against the laws of the wt and folks,he wasn't struck down dead and no demons took over he body as of yet.. i really don't care if he believes in his country or not but i want him to feel it for his own reasons and not because the wt told him that it is naughty and against their laws, so for me i hope this is some kind of break through..

I've noticed that a lot of the former JW's from the US talk about not standing for the Flag Salute????? My mother started studying at the end of '59, was baptised January of '60......we were still in the tar and feather the JW's era, however we were told as children to stand respectfully....not put our hands over our heart and not say the words. I guess the don't stand was either something that came out later and I didn't pay attention or done in certain areas???
But then again, it seems the CO and other "older brothers" in each congo kinda made up their own rules at they went along, so as not to rock the boat of their peaceful lifestyles.
