since we are expecting the repairman for the dryer, we didn't think much of it, since witnesses have never come to our door in the 4+ years that we have been married.

it was 2 women, and one opens up with saying they were witnesses and brings out a tract that said something about the bible on the front - i didn't pay that close attention to it because i was weighing in my head what i was going to say, and how much of a discussion i would get into with them.

Caligirl, Go girl! Your response was super, and you didn't even have a clue that they were coming to your door. I am sure the other ladys are still doing some thinking about what you said. I admire the strength and self assurance I see on these posts. You can see the difference in people as they speak with others who have been down the exact same road. Imagine not having anyone to talk to and trying to get away from this cult.

Wow, that was quite a thread ! How totally Unchristian and I sense some STRONG emotions from everyone. dahhhhhhhhh!! It is very sad, some or most familys have been through an awful lot with the ins and outs of this cult. Jesus was kind and caring and loving and didnt know the meaning of shunning. It is hard to imagine how this cult has grown over the many years, you would think it would shrivel and die. That day is not far off, hopefully all this will come out in the news especially with Oprah coming on strong about pediphiles. The grief many good people have endured because of this shunning, do ya think alot of them took their own lives? The pain must have been great. Some of the discriptions in the directions from the wt towards shunning made me nauseous.

Legolas, I knew you wouldn't be far behind. I said to Arwen, I bet Legolas will type in a reply when she reads my last post. You are so with it, girl ! I belive the actual wording that was used was "come out west and we'll whip you back into shape". She better be willing to drag Arwen over this fat and fifty year old little body to do that! It has been too long a road..............

Arwen had a visit from a long time jw friend who now lives in the west coast. She showed her all the info about the united nations and wt, etc. and told her all that has happened in the past few months. This lady stated she came to PEI to do some finishing touches from her move to the west coast, but really wanted to see what was happening with Arwen. She immediately wanted Arwen to go west for a week or so, to get the "help she needed from the sisters and brothers out there" and it would get her back on the right track. She told Arwen to burn the papers she had in her hands about the United Nations etc...... and said it was all a lie, or men make mistakes. Arwen wanted her friend to take them with her and after she could barely bring herself to touch the papers, she agreed to take them stating she would burn them. Hopefully she may read some of it before she burns them, she thinks they were satanic. Does anyone think this Canada wide trip would be counted as servicing?? I am proud of Arwen, she is getting stronger with each confrontation. Bring it on!

14 years later- still a wreck! What's up with me!

which was a lovely thing to say, and made me feel 'valued' (thanks listener!).

but, you know, 14 years on, and there are times, when i feel like i just left.. i took the children to the pictures yesterday (to see 'wallace & grommit').

Has anyone ever just rushed up to a jw who was ignoring you ( in a public place) and gave them a big hug and loudly gush hellllllllooooooooo, how have you beeeeeen? I think that would be so funny. Especially if you had other people with you. And they were all alone! There is humour everywhere and by golly, I will find it!
