Word has it in New York City that the cozy days at Nassau Colisseum are over. (For those of you unfamiliar with New York, the district conventions have been held at an indoor colisseum for for several years now. Prior to that New yorkers were forced into sitting for 3+ days in a hot, humid, sometimes rainy OUTDOOR stadium.) Now with the Society's money problems it looks like it's back to Yankee. Tentatively that is. The convention may not even be in New York at all. I guess it's just another 'sign of the times' for Watchtower.

This is WONDERFUL news. It just seems that lately, one catastrophy after another is coming on the Society.
It reminds me of this Scripture in Deuteronomy:
(Deuteronomy 28:15) 15
"And it must occur that if you will not listen to the voice of Jehovah your God by taking care to do all his commandments and his statutes that I am commanding you today, all these maledictions must also come upon you and overtake you: -

Furthermore, Leon Weaver and another heavy (Van de Wall?) discussed the need to control doing personal and congregation business on time. Too much time being spent on the phone. (Who knows maybe the Net too? Any Bethelites here? :) ) They stated that the lost man-hours amount to the productivity of approximately 470 people.
Many buildings are going to be sold down to this downsizing. I don't know if any of the larger ones are being sold but many smaller ones are. Rumor has it that the high-rises are not going up. Of course all of this is "God's Will." Are donations down? I wouldn't doubt it. There is also rumor that there will be fewer convention sites this year. It seems that it is cheaper to rent larger, centralized locations.
Expect many disapointments to come at Bethel.

Excellent site. Let's all send the email to Watchtower before they shut down that address. It does work for now.

Library of Congress & the Watchtower publications...
by Rabbit indoes anybody know what is stored there ?
i was under the impression that all periodicals and books published, at least in the usa, were stored there.. so-o, if they would have all the 'old stuff', wouldn't that be an interesting thing to point out to active jw's ?
the one's who don't think anything has been changed ?.

Journal of Church and State: WT NO-BLOOD EXPOSE'
by AndersonsInfo in(baylor university, waco, tx) an essay entitled, "jehovah's witnesses, blood transfusions, and the tort of misrepresentation," found in the autumn issue of baylor universitys prestigious journal of church and state, published december 13, 2005, exposes the vulnerability of jehovahs witnesses religious organization to massive claims for compensation because of the religions misrepresentation of the medical risks of blood transfusions.
this milestone essay critically examines one of the religions main publications for teaching their children and new recruits about their blood beliefs, how can blood save your life?
the peer-reviewed essay details many misrepresentations of medical facts, which the religion partly relies on to support its blood prohibition, thus denying its members from making fully informed medical decisions.

What minimus is saying is what I have been thinking as well. If we focus on the mealy-mouthed ways of the GB and its Service and Writing Departments, it will be almost impossible for many r&f to deny it. Maybe not right away, but have you ever caught someone in a lie? The way they squirm and try to rationalize? They end up tripping up over their own words, given enough time to ramble. When r&f see that that it may become a lot harder to dismiss it. Even if they say "No comment," eventually they will have to say something. Or else start changing doctrines in a massive way. And that may very well matter. Even if not in a court of law, then perhaps in the court of public opinion.

THE NEWS IS BIGGER THAN DATELINE, BBC, CBC, ETC.
by AndersonsInfo inif i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?
have i ever misled you?
i'll answer that--no!

I think that to discredit the GB is what this can do. Over time. For example, who doesn't know that the Catholic Church broke the law with the abusing priests issue? They even apologized for it after admitting it. The power of the WTS is the deification of the Governing Body. Turn them into ordinary mortals and do it in a forum that cannot be hidden from the R&F, and there wil be, how does the FDS say it, a 'lowering of the waters' for the GB. The chain of events caused by this should be able to at least marginalize them in the minds of many. I for one am willing to do whatever it takes to bring this about. Even talking to the press. (There is a unique perspective that I am willing to bring that never been brought before.) Another Dateline, or a CNN Presents, 60 Minutes or similar primetime, mainstream show would undoubtedly do some damage.

As we all know, when it comes to misrepresentation, this is the Society's MO. The misquotes and misrepresentation are simply too many to enumerate.
I think what is particularly bad is that they are not simply saying they have an opinion based on what someone said. rather, they directly imply that the author is saying such and such.
I was particularly angered for example, by their recent college statements. When I get some time I will try and post my research on that article, but what it boils down to is this: I purchased every article they quoted, read them thoroughly, and in every case they had thoroughly misrepresented the author's words. Only in using one did they come anywhere close to anything the author may have been saying. Not one of those articles say anything remotely implying that children should not be sent to college. One even calls college one of the solutions to economic difficulty.
This arrticle seems to be saying that this can be used against them. The Society itself seems scared of this. This is probably why, with the exception of the college article, they have stopped giving sources. I think that if the Society can be dealt with on that basis, perhaps this can go somewhere.

This is GREAT. I want to say more but I want to digest this article. Where is it? I don't see it yet on the University's page.
