We have here in California a unique store called Home Express. It's loaded with ideas for your home.
All styles of flooring, stone tiles, carpeting, faucets and fixtures. And they have umpteen bathrooms, bedrooms,kitchens all fixed up to actually stand in and imagine in.
I could spend hours in that place looking at all the many choices.
Its fun because my hubby and I agree on 99.9%
His fascination with a ceiling fan system (4 fans in 4 rooms connected by a pulley) said it was time to leave. -

I hope you can be your moms best friend right now and help her to see she neednt go back to slaving for a man made organization. Yes, stop the phone calls and visits from the cong. and have a long talk with her about family love how strongly cults can interfere so deeply in our lives.
Encourage her to take a big break. Well meaning but busybody witnoids will try to reach your mom and pry what its all about, but later report to the elders her feelings said in privacy. This will lead to further action from the elders. -

I'd like to say it again how happy I am to find this site! My self confidence is growing exponentially!!!!
Reading the many posts has given voice to so many of my frustrations with the cult of Jehovahs Witnesses. I just did not know what was wrong. I only knew how unhappy I was growing day by day. And few outside of the organization can help you that much. This site is the key!
Everyday I am practicing expressing my point of view, trying to be very honest. I am also allowing myself to joke a little and be silly and laugh. Believe me, (I dont have to tell you all), coming out of a mind controlling cult after being in it for years and years and years can leave you not knowing what you think or feel about anything!!! Its like you are starting new all over again!
I thank you all sooooo much! I like the new me that is emerging. The posting back and forth makes me feel closer to you all like we are together even though we are far away from each other. Like someone else wrote I feel closer to you all than to the members of my old hall who did not discuss anything significant with each other. Why would we??? On pain of expulsion we could only discuss WT approved subjects and parrot only approved thoughts!! -

I just recently finished a couple of nice books. One was supposedly written by the Dalai Lama called "The Compassionate Life"
That was nice, pretty understandable.
One I really liked was "After The Ecstasy, The Laundry" a practical application of Zen principles.
But an eye opener book I just finished yesterday called "The Buddha From Brooklyn" shed light on the inner workings of the Buddhist temple. Or at least one temple. It was awful to read how a woman enslaved so many with her charismatic personality.
For someone just coming out of the cult of Jehovahs Witnesses I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT JOINING ANOTHER RELIGION TOO FAST. The reason being that many of the other religions are set up in similar fashion.
There are men who are in charge (like elders) They tell the newly initiated what to wear, what to eat, to give their money to the temple, not to go to college, to work for the temple, not to think much of themselves. They discipline and sometimes verbally abuse and browbeat the novice into submission and obedience. There are all sorts of little laws (that will be revealed to you over time) regarding the use of your genitals (what you may do and not do with them).....the list goes on and on.
It sounded like another cult to me darlin'.
Until a person is strong enough to detect when anybody is stepping over the line and interfering with your head and your life too much, you are not ready to join another religion. Check it out and just be a guest for a long time. Look for hypocrasy and cultism. Make sure they are not worshipping a man or group of men or woman in some instances.
We have been mislead. How much of that was our own gullibility????? We need to stay free of mind shackling ideas.
Are they following men?
Are they telling me what to eat, what to wear, when to worship?
Are they interested in my sex life?
Are they asking for my money?
The alarms should go off!!!!! Stay away from these organizations!!!! -

My Sister.

we keep it a secret from the rest of the family because i am disfellowshipped and she's not supposed to be hanging with me.
we are just recently becoming closer as she is beginning to have her doubts about the borg, and is currently on "public reproof" status.

I agree, this is wonderful her coming out to see you. Her acting out (drinking, potty mouth) is because she may not yet have a voice to articulate all her frustrations with the JWs. She is tyring on being free and her own boss. This rebel girl will calm down as she becomes free of the strangle hold of the society. Just be there for her. Let her vent. That is very healing. Tell her how great it is to be out. Tell her about us here on the forum. Congratulations to you on regaining your little sister!!!
