''Consider the example of a teenage girl in the
country of Ethiopia. She did so well in her
schoolwork that upon completing her basic
education, she was offered a scholarship for
further education. Having her eye focused
on serving Jehovah, however, she turned
down the scholarship''

''How does a supportive wife feel about seeing her husband play an active role in the
Christian congregation? Why, she is joyful!Whether her husband is a ministerial servant, an elder, or perhaps a member of a Hospital Liaison Committee or a Regional Building Committee, she is happy about his privilege.''
Is she? What, always?

One more reason why I have very little, if any, respect for any body that ''worships'' the God of the Old Testament.
That includes all religious Christians, all religious Muslims and all religious Jews.
I personally think the world would be a better place without any religion and by default any religious people.

Is it acceptable for JWs to put flowers on a loved one's grave?
by serenitynow! ini want to go and put some flowers on my grandma's grave.
she died 9 years ago feb 19. i haven't been out there since the funeral.
i can't remember where the cemetary is, and i will have to ask my jw relatives (who don't know my status) where she is buried.

A good question. I would assume (in other words I don't know) it is looked down on.
I remember hearing of a brother dying of cancer in my local congregation whilst relatively still young. There was some concern and chatter that his young widow was known to be attending the gravesite and was overheard talking out loud.
One 'stalwart' sister, as she likes to call herself, said to me '' we all grieve but come on, she needs to pull herself together''.
Such love.

That's a million dollars a week. How?
''Could''

Is this the kind of God you want to worship?
by MrFreeze injw's believe all non-jw's are going to die at armageddon.
this can't be debated.
i would say i'm the kind of guy who lives a quiet, unassuming life.
-
ThomasCovenant
I agree. But not only that,
What do you think of the billions of people that worship that kind of god?
It frightens me.

by bigmouth intwo quotes i'm trying to locate, from the mags i think, or possibly a book;.
1) one article (mid '80's ?
) stated that it was concievable that this system could continue as far as the year 2000 but all the signs were it would never get this far.

Don't know if this is one, can't access my CDrom so I'm only typing copying a piece I've already written down, hope it helps.
Watchtower 1st march 1952 pp158-160.
Questions from Readers
'Do the courts of the land have the right to inflict capital punishment on those guilty of murder?
.....................Hence, there does not seem to be any violation of Scriptural principle in the community's putting a murderer to death. It even seems a more Scriptural course than committing the murderer for life, to be thereafter fed and clothed and cared for at the expense of the community,..............''
I'll try and post full answer again.
