I was chatting a few months back to a Muslim doctor of science, therefore of a certain level of alleged education and intelligence, and eventually got him to admit that he believed that I, as an unbeliever, [hence the name Thomas Covenant] would be the ''fuel for the fires of hell''. Charming.

Everyone's situation is different of course. For me, I couldn't live with myself if I didn't speak to my parents about the reasons I left the religion. They kindly listened, after an ultimatum on my wife's behalf it has to be said. They listend but didn't comment and certainly offered no rebuttals to my points of view.
I felt I had to make a stand for the truth as opposed to the Truth.
Whatever you do make sure its the best for you and no one else.

Palermo (Italy): JW donates her organs
by behemot inaccording to this article (in italian), a 56 y. o. jehovahs witness, dying for cerebral hemorrhage, donated her liver, kidneys and cornea.
the article says that the peculiarity of this multi-organ withdrawal is that the donor was a jehovahs witness.
for jws, in fact, donation is a matter of individual conscience, given that all organs and tissue must be completely bloodless.. http://palermo.repubblica.it/dettaglio-news/12:35/4022250.

How should matters be handled when a householder insists that Jehovah's Witnesses make no further calls at that home?
When we encounter a sign at the door that strictly prohibits calls of a religious nature and specifically mentions Jehovah's Witnesses, it may be best to respect the householder's wishes and avoid knocking.
Sometimes we come upon a sign prohibiting salesmen or solicitors. Since we are doing charitable religious work, that does not really apply to us. It would be appropriate to go ahead and knock at such doors. If the householder objects, we can tactfully explain why we feel that such signs do not apply in our case. If the householder then makes it clear that the prohibition includes Jehovah's Witnesses, we will respect his wishes.
When we are working the territory, a householder may become visibly upset and emphatically insist that we do not call again. If he refuses to reason on the matter, we should comply with this request. A dated note should be placed in the territory envelope so that publishers working the territory in the future will avoid calling at that address.
Such homes are not to be avoided indefinitely. The present occupants may move away. We may contact another family member who will respond favorably. There is also the possibility that the householder to whom we spoke will have a change of heart and become more agreeable to having us call. So after some time a tactful inquiry should be made of the occupants to determine their current feelings.
The territory file should be reviewed once a year, making a list of the homes where we have been advised not to call. Under the direction of the service overseer, some tactful, experienced publishers can be assigned to visit these homes. It could be explained that we are calling to inquire if the same householder still lives there. The publisher should be familiar with the material in the Reasoning book, pages 15-24, entitled "How You Might Respond to Potential Conversation Stoppers."
If there is a reasonable response, future calls can be made in the usual way. If the householder continues to be antagonistic, no further calls should be made until the following year. The local body of elders can decide if the circumstances in a particular case make it advisable to handle things differently.

My Story - Part 4
by Jeremy C inpart 1. part 2. part 3. i submitted my regular pioneer application in late 1993 so that i could officially begin on january 1st.
i knew that my application would get the rubber stamp of approval from the service committee since i had never been involved in any conduct that would prevent my appointment.. i was however slightly rebellious throughout my teens; but it was what i would refer to as a "watchtower rebelliousness".
you see, i believe that there are two forms of rebelliousness among jw youth.

Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower
by Jeremy C ini have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.
last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

I agree wholeheartedly with what unshackled said,
''Excellent post, Jeremy C. Now I'm wondering what other gems I've missed in your other 400 posts.''
Thank you.
I read this site every day and have done for several years but I seem to have missed your posts.
So easy to read.

Watchtower baptizing young children
by Marvin Shilmer inwatchtower baptizing young children.

It goes on,
But it seems that some among Jehovah's people have gone to the other extreme.
Many Christian parents let their children wait until they are in their late teens before broaching the subject of baptism.
Time and again, we hear of youngsters making a valid dedication solely on their own initiative.
For example, the preteen son of an elder sincerely wanted to get baptized. So his father had three other elders discuss with the youngster the questions designed for those contemplating baptism. Their conclusion was that, though quite young, he qualified to be baptized as an ordained minister of Jehovah God.
Why, attending the Pioneer Service School in the Bahamas recently was a ten-year-old baptized girl, the daughter of two full-time ministers!

Watchtower 15th March 1988 page 14 paragraph 20 says
Baptized at What Age?
Jesus' words at Matthew 28:19, 20 show that it is those who have been made his disciples that should be baptized.
Hence, it follows that no infant or small child could meet the Scriptural requirements for baptism.
An infant could not exercise faith in God's Word, in God the Creator, and in his Son Jesus Christ.
An infant could not understand that the holy spirit is God's active force; nor could it repent of past sins and make a solemn vow to do God's will.
But seven year old children can.

Householder Question 1
Why do you people come door knocking?
Witness Answer 1
To preach the good news.
Householder Question 2,
What, exactly, is the 'good news' that you are preaching?
Witness Answer 2,
That soon [don't laugh] God is going to put an end to all the badness in the world and bring about a paradise on earth.
Householder Question 3,
Do I have to be a Jehovah's Witness to get in this paradise?
Witness Answer 3 (LYING)
No, only God can read peoples hearts.
Householder response to lying answer 3
Well, as you just told me I don't have to be a Jehovah's Witness to be saved, thanks for letting me know and I look forward to seeing you soon in Paradise.
Witness Answer 3 (truthful)
Yes.
Householder response to truthful answer 3
So, if I get this correct, you are calling on peoples doors to tell them that soon God is going to kill them unless they become a Jehovah's Witness. I'm not sure what newspapers you read but in most peoples minds that is definitely not good news. Goodbye.
