'Apostates' being labelled 'mentally diseased'. Is discrimination against mentally disabled people by using it as a 'hate crime' term?
by punkofnice insorry if i'm not expressing myself very well but i wasn't allowed an education due to wbt$ regulations.. what i'm trying to say is that the wbt$ using the term 'mentally diseased' as an insulting term against those fictitious 'apostates' they want everyone to 'hate', is surely very discriminatory against those that have a genuine mental illness.. it's like calling a white person that has caught a suntan the 'n' word isn't it?
offensive, inappropriate and utterly destructive.. in the uk the press can be pretty sensitive about such name calling that implies that mental disease is somehow to be used as a hate crime word.. is it worth writing to the press to complain about such discrimination?.

"Unscriptural to say a former child abuser could never enjoy exemplary privleges of service." Oh really?
by headisspinning init is a known fact that on average a pedophile will abuse as many as 200 children in his/her lifetime.. with that in mind.
read an extract from an august 1, 1995 letter to all bodies of elders in the usa.. i guess these untrained elders are somehow experts in this area and can determine if someone will reoffend even though law enforcement, psychiatrists and specialists cannot offer the same guarantee and in many cases will even suggest that these known sex offenders are very likely to reoffend when the opportunity presents itself.... to all bodies of elders in the united states.

''Matthew 12:31 and I Corinthians 6:9-11, shows it is possible for a person to stop his or
her wrongful course, repent, and thereafter live in harmony with God's righteous standards. This
is true of all wrongdoers-s-even a former child abuser.''Can they be faulted for this line of reasoning from a Biblical viewpoint?
Or is this a Bible problem as opposed to a religious sect problem?

ThomasCovenant - I don't have an interlinear anymore, does it translate the GK to 'mentally diseased' in Timothy?
Not sure what GK is but the 4th Greek word literally translated as 'being diseased' in the Interlinear is then read as 'mentally diseased' in the scripture, as I showed above the breakdown of words.

I can't seem to copy and paste from my Kingdom Interlinear 1969 downloaded version so I'll try typing out the literal translation as shown.
I Timothy 6:4 ''he is puffed up [with pride], not understanding anything, but being mentally diseased over questionings and debates about words.''
Greek word
1st = he has been made to smoke,
2nd = nothing knowing well
3rd = but
4th = being diseased
5th = about
6th = seekings
7th = and
8th = word fights

I was chatting a few months back to a Muslim doctor of science, therefore of a certain level of alleged education and intelligence, and eventually got him to admit that he believed that I, as an unbeliever, [hence the name Thomas Covenant] would be the ''fuel for the fires of hell''. Charming.

Suggestions for finally talking to my parents about my doubts?
by stillstuckcruz ini'll give my story again:.
i was raised a believing witness.
i had a normal life and very loving parents who would do anything for me and my brother(who is 21).

Everyone's situation is different of course. For me, I couldn't live with myself if I didn't speak to my parents about the reasons I left the religion. They kindly listened, after an ultimatum on my wife's behalf it has to be said. They listend but didn't comment and certainly offered no rebuttals to my points of view.
I felt I had to make a stand for the truth as opposed to the Truth.
Whatever you do make sure its the best for you and no one else.

Palermo (Italy): JW donates her organs
by behemot inaccording to this article (in italian), a 56 y. o. jehovahs witness, dying for cerebral hemorrhage, donated her liver, kidneys and cornea.
the article says that the peculiarity of this multi-organ withdrawal is that the donor was a jehovahs witness.
for jws, in fact, donation is a matter of individual conscience, given that all organs and tissue must be completely bloodless.. http://palermo.repubblica.it/dettaglio-news/12:35/4022250.

How should matters be handled when a householder insists that Jehovah's Witnesses make no further calls at that home?
When we encounter a sign at the door that strictly prohibits calls of a religious nature and specifically mentions Jehovah's Witnesses, it may be best to respect the householder's wishes and avoid knocking.
Sometimes we come upon a sign prohibiting salesmen or solicitors. Since we are doing charitable religious work, that does not really apply to us. It would be appropriate to go ahead and knock at such doors. If the householder objects, we can tactfully explain why we feel that such signs do not apply in our case. If the householder then makes it clear that the prohibition includes Jehovah's Witnesses, we will respect his wishes.
When we are working the territory, a householder may become visibly upset and emphatically insist that we do not call again. If he refuses to reason on the matter, we should comply with this request. A dated note should be placed in the territory envelope so that publishers working the territory in the future will avoid calling at that address.
Such homes are not to be avoided indefinitely. The present occupants may move away. We may contact another family member who will respond favorably. There is also the possibility that the householder to whom we spoke will have a change of heart and become more agreeable to having us call. So after some time a tactful inquiry should be made of the occupants to determine their current feelings.
The territory file should be reviewed once a year, making a list of the homes where we have been advised not to call. Under the direction of the service overseer, some tactful, experienced publishers can be assigned to visit these homes. It could be explained that we are calling to inquire if the same householder still lives there. The publisher should be familiar with the material in the Reasoning book, pages 15-24, entitled "How You Might Respond to Potential Conversation Stoppers."
If there is a reasonable response, future calls can be made in the usual way. If the householder continues to be antagonistic, no further calls should be made until the following year. The local body of elders can decide if the circumstances in a particular case make it advisable to handle things differently.

My Story - Part 4
by Jeremy C inpart 1. part 2. part 3. i submitted my regular pioneer application in late 1993 so that i could officially begin on january 1st.
i knew that my application would get the rubber stamp of approval from the service committee since i had never been involved in any conduct that would prevent my appointment.. i was however slightly rebellious throughout my teens; but it was what i would refer to as a "watchtower rebelliousness".
you see, i believe that there are two forms of rebelliousness among jw youth.

Regrettably I missed all of this before, but after reading your post on why young people are leaving the Watchtower I found these.
Enjoyed all four parts, and look forward to part 5 and beyond. Thanks.
