Should I ''respect'' Bible and Koran believers?
by ThomasCovenant inbelievers in the koran/islam, that's all of them, not just so called extremists, believe that i, as an unbeliever, will be the fuel for the fires of hell.
that's nice.. they, along with all bible believers, worship a god who is, according to his written publications, a right bastard.
i despise their god/s.. i find that i do not respect their beliefs.. i cannot help but think that when all the philosophical talking of this, that and the other is done, they're just idiots.. i, on my down days, find that i do not respect them as human beings.

to mean that I as an atheist would be the fuel for the fire.

I find that I do not respect their beliefs.
I cannot help but think that when all the philosophical talking of this, that and the other is done, they're just idiots.
I, on my down days, find that I do not respect them as human beings. But I think this is wrong.
But I find it hard to respect someone who as an adult still believes in Father Christmas and the tooth fairy.
How do I overcome this?

How I recently handled JWs at my door
by Christian guy inthe jws stopped by my house a couple weeks ago on a saturday morning.
i knew that with others most likely waiting for them out in the car they probably did not then have much time to engage in any serious conversation.
so i let them talk while i feigned interest in what they had to say.

If all ''faders'' abruptly left the Watchtower and made no effort to hide the reasons why, what affect, if any, do you think it would make on the congregations?

if i was the only person left in the congregation who still went on the door to door work, because every body else had stopped going , having said out loud what most think, ''it's a waste of time'', how long do you think before i too would cease going door to door?.
i know from my own perspective that having lots of fellow witnesses around me, steered me into making life changing decisions.

I know from my own perspective that having lots of fellow Witnesses around me, steered me into making life changing decisions. I was influenced by those around me and the constant indoctrination from the platform.
I looked up to certain 'educated' 'intelligent' Witnesses as a teenager and thought, if they believe it, it must be right.
I'm just a spotty youth.
If those Witnesses had upped and left, and explained their reasons I may, (stress may) have felt differently.
I feel that there are probably many still attending who don't believe it.
If they all suddenly stopped going would it have any affect on the remaining doubters to also leave?

Wife update

so i am at 1200 posts or so (only about 6 were probably of note), and i still havenlt told my story and probably won't for some time.
basically, i was a born in who has served in other countries, as an ms, and given talks etc... my wife and i were in foreign language, have co's we have counted as close family friends, and were basically the golden boy and girl of their respective areas.
