''None of that is phrased as past tense''
I apologise,
I took it that the phrase ''Several years ago...... I read'' to be past tense,
as I understood the past tense of 'to read' to be the word 'read', pronounced 'red'.
several years ago unless i was dreaming i read a watchtower quotation that effectively said that they would execute us as disfellowshipped individuals if the law would allow.. was i dreaming?.

I'm not quite sure I follow what you are getting at Simon.
I didn't read the the OP as trying to nail the WTS to the stake for a snippet of a phrase they printed in 1952, but I may have misinterpreted.
I took it they were asking if they were correct in their recollection and JWFacts answered with the information to clarify. Job done.
What's the big deal with the date?
What helped me out of the religion was reading stuff that had been printed before I was born by the religion I was a part of.
I only wish that I'd known the shit they had printed including this about apostates and yes I would certainly use the 1952 quote to point out what the religion is really like.
Just as I would use the 1928 quotation about the Pleiades constellation being the suggested dwelling place of Jehovah which I believe, if I am correct in my recollection, helped you in your leaving the Witness religion.

''Only a complete moron'' would understand the OP to mean that the quote was from several years ago as opposed to 'I read it several years ago'.

Several MINUTES ago unless I was dreaming I read a watchtower quotation that effectively said that they would execute us as disfellowshipped individuals if the law would allow.
Morpheus............... So, 1952 is your definition of “several MINUTES ago”?

accused, i should add..
so after much emotional struggle out into the open comes why my dear wife continues to want to stay with the wt organization.. i simply couldn't understand why someone so intelligent would suffer from such confusion wether to stay active or fade away when she has faced and accepted the anti-jw facts.
simply put: she was raised with such sick instability that jw life was the only thing that provided stability, the only thing she felt she could count on.
to this day this remains the primary reason she stays "in".
I was in a similar place.
I didn't believe a single word of the religion for years but I carried on going for the 'association'.
Being a bit of a loner I had no social life outside the Witnesses, so was content to go along.
It took the blood transfusion issue with my wife to snap me out of it.
Next day finished.
I consider every JW that still attends even for the same reason that I did to be partly responsible for every death that results from the blood transfusion policy and partly responsible for every rape of a child that takes place under its security blanket.
I couldn't live with that anymore.
Every one that still attends has a ripple effect to ensure that others still attend even though they may not believe it anymore. Peer pressure.
If more unbelievers just left other unbelievers would just leave too.
i resigned from the jw's in my 20's over 30 years ago, i was immediately shunned by my entire family and it's remained that way with a few exceptions ever since.
one of those exceptions was being contacted by a cousin a few years back and during that conversation i discovered that my mother had been and still was the prime mover in my complete and continuing shunning.
i then used what contacts i had left to confirm it.
Another tragedy from a mistaken belief in a sky god.
i had two episodes of visiting exjw websites:one time around 2007 when i just googled "jehovah´s witnesses" and dared to look at those sites.
i was scared and i promised myself i would never come back to them.
however, that one didn´t really count.the moment that woke me up was this:i got to know that whitney heichel was a jw and murdered by another jw, because i overheard that conversation in a kingdom hall.i looked up the news and in one of the news comments, there was one where an exjw was complaining that they were hijacking her funeral and they were really trying to downplay the fact that her murderer was a jw... and then it said "visit jwfacts.com"... which i did.and the rest... is history.what exactly got you onto an apostate website when you woke up?
It was http://quotes.watchtower.ca.
That website was simply showing quotes of various watchtower teachings within their respective context. I remember I watched it as there were no "apostate" comments over them and they were in fact, clearly in their context.
And then, the watchtower had the web site shot down using copyright laws: I was shocked, SHOCKED! How could they shut down a site that simply displayed information that I was giving away for free every Saturday morning?? Besides, I could not imagine that Jesus would have done something similar either.
The same, exactly the same. Although I had already started to wake up (before I had internet access) from reading some pre 1930 WT publications and then being told in the WT study a rewritten version of their history. Why lie about their past? That's right, its not a good look. lets remove our embarrassing past.
The same for me too, exactly the same
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2018/aug/31/jehovahs-witness-girl-could-receive-blood-against-her-will-during-childbirth.
a jehovah’s witness girl may be forced to receive a blood transfusion against her will this weekend when she gives birth in melbourne.. victoria’s mercy hospital was granted supreme court authority on friday to give the girl blood as a “last resort” if she suffers a postpartum haemorrhage when induced into labour on sunday afternoon.. the 17-year-old first-time mother is considered to be at increased risk of haemorrhaging because she is of “small stature” and the baby is large, meaning she may have a long labour, an assisted birth or an emergency caesarean section.. jehovah’s witnesses forbid followers from receiving blood transfusions or blood products.. the risk to the baby from the mother refusing blood is considered low.. the human tissue act has a provision that minors may be given blood transfusions without parental consent, but it was edited in 1994 with the concept of a “mature minor” who could “make up their own mind”, the court was told on friday.. however, the child psychiatrist campbell paul told the hearing he did not believe the girl had the “decision-making capacity” to be considered as having “gillick competence” – a term used to describe whether a child can consent to their own medical treatment.. paul said the girl had “been through considerable disruption and trauma through her life” and had “transgressed a major value of her family and her community” by having pre-marital sex.. “you could imagine that she feels very frightened” and worried about “further punishment”, he said.. the obstetrician and gynaecologist jacqueline van dam told the court she was concerned about the girl’s “naivety” that if anything happened, “she would be protected by her faith”.. she said several strategies could be undertaken first in the case of haemorrhage, such as injecting a drug to limit bleeding or stitching the uterus.. the girl’s mother, who said she would not consent to the hospital administering blood to her daughter, told the court receiving a transfusion would have a significant impact on the girl’s wellbeing.. “being forced to have that done against her will would be something like having violence done to her or being raped,” she said in a statement read to the court.. “she wants to do the right thing by jehovah, by god.”.
justice cameron macaulay granted mercy hospital the authority to give the girl a transfusion if necessary as “a last resort” but only if they first used all other strategies to stop the bleeding and obtained authority from two doctors.. “i’m not satisfied that [the girl] has the maturity to understand the consequences of her choice,” he said.. “i do not consider that allowing her, in effect, to choose to die ... is in her best interests.” .
What a lovely religion
this is good from the pope and really puts a lot of shame on our gb.
i could never see them doing this.. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-45249109.
pope francis has condemned the "atrocities" of child sex abuse and clerical cover-ups in a letter to the world's 1.2bn roman catholics.. the letter to "the people of god" calls for an end to the "culture of death" in the church, addresses failures to deal with abuse and asks for forgiveness.. last week a grand jury report detailed seven decades of abuse in pennsylvania.. the landmark investigation found more than 1,000 identifiable minors had been abused by 300 priests in the us state.. thousands more are thought to have fallen victim.
All 1.2 billion Catholics should be ashamed of themselves for being part of that shitty religion.
