It's hard to say really, I've had so many birthdays now (57 next Feb),
but I guess my then fiance (later my first wife) getting tickets to see
a Neil Young concert for my 25th birthday would be up there.

Best birthday present
by greendawn inwhat was the best birhday present you ever had?
i know many here only began celebrating birthdays recently or perhaps haven't yet started due to the stupid jw ban on something that is in fact totally innocent and harmless.
for me it was food.

I am sorry for your loss Avishai. Losing any friend is a blow.
Friendship is one thing you can't put a value on, it's priceless.

MsMcDucket: Would you miss her if she wasn't here?
by AuldSoul inmsmcducket doesn't believe she'd be missed.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/143341/2578096/post.ashx#2578096.
i believe that's a sign she's gone dotty.
i also believe we can convince her she's wrong.. respectfully,.

Of course she'd be missed. We miss all those who leave,
with the exception of jw apologist trolls, of course.Let's face it, we've all lost enough through being former
jws. We don't want to lose each other as well. -

It's almost 11:30 am here Jeff, the morning after the night before
for Julie. She was a bit tipsy last night, and just may have reached
for the paracetamols this morning - we haven't heard from her yet.
Her bf and herself are having a few days holiday, so they have plenty
of recovery time -

What was your first car?
by nicolaou inmine was an old fiat 127, i bought it 1983 and it was at least fifteen years old then!
the seats were vinyl and there were no rear seatbelts so i could send my girlfriend and her sister flying with each bend in the road!
it wouldn't go above 55mph and was rattling like rollercoaster when it finally got there.. the rear window fell out and it finally croaked in puff of blue/black smoke.

Mine was a 1959 Morris Minor, which I bought in 1969,
just after my 18th birthday -

Thanks everyone, we had a really good night, and we drank
the toast at 7:55, and another one at 8:05, just to make sure!Julie was in a happy mood, although she may well have lost
most of her family last night, apart from one sister who was
df'd as a teenager and had the good sense never to go back
to the watchtower. Her brother phoned her on her mobile to
express his feelings about her "disgrace" as he called it, so
she won't be seeing much of him from now on. No matter, the
way Julie looks at it is that she may have lost him, but she's
gained a lot more.We drank toasts to Randy Watters, Danny Haszard, Quotes,
silentlambs, and all of you at JWD, who have all had a part in
Julie breaking free of the watchtower. Julie wanted to play a
special song for the occasion, and asked me to post a link to
it. It's Chimes of Freedom, by Bob Dylan, which contains this
line, kind of appropriateTolling for the rebel, tolling for the rake
Tolling for the luckless, the abandoned an' forsaked
Tolling for the outcast, burnin' constantly at stake
An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.

I posted this thread last week
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/142937/1.ashx
about a friend of ours who had been informed by her elders that she
has been disfellowshipped. Her announcement is tonight, at about
8pm UK time, in an hour or so. Julie will be here when the
announcement is made, and we will be raising a glass at the time,
and probably another straight afterwards to make sure! Please feel free to join us as another one escapes the org and finds
freedom. I know she will get a real kick out of knowing others are
as pleased as we are about her release from the watchtowerCheers!

Well it's official: free2think is no longer part of the congregation
by free2think inas some of you may know i am fading.
well my dad, an elder, has now said that i am no longer part of the congregation, woohoo.
i am not da'd or df'd or reproved so my question is what does that mean?
-

Maybe it's what your dad sees as a subtle way to get you to
commit yourself either way. If you still have any feeling for the
watchtower, you will go back, if not you will reveal this to him,
and the boe will then be able to take what they consider the
appropriate action, ie df'ing you.I very much doubt it's an off-the-cuff remark by him, there is
likely to be a reason for it, and I'd be willing to bet that your
name has come up at an elders meeting already, which could
be why the elder you saw the other day was uncomfortable at
being around you while his wife was friendly. -

I guess if you've been away for a while, and show no sign of
returning, the elders now consider you a bad associate, and
may advise others to stop talking to you altogether. When I left in 1999, many in the hall stopped talking to me,
though I didn't da until 2005, when with a couple of exceptions
they all shunned me.Maybe they are a little scared of the fact that you seem to
be managing your life very well without jah, and might be
a threat to others spirituality. If that's the case, it's in their
interests to keep others away from you.
