  as my wife predicted, my mother heard that she da'd herself.

  she called, and spoke with my boy for awhile.

  Brilliant.

  My dad told me (after years of my battling to keep in touch with them) that it was a mistake to ever have a relationship with me. Obviously that includes my children then. If they cannot respect me, my husband and my marriage, then they sure aren't having time alone with my children. I have said I will take the children to their house, and they are welcome in my house, but they will not be allowed the children on their own.

  That was years ago, and was 'pretty much it'. The only time I have contact with me parents now is if one of my brothers is at their house (eg one of my borthers was sick, and I went to visit him while he stayed with my parents).

  You have done the right thing. But you knew that already!

  i work for a large corporation and if anyone else does, then they might understand what i am saying .... .

  in the simpson series, there was an episode where bart and lisa are taken away from homer and marge and put into foster care with ned.

  ned is so perfect, it drives homer nuts.

  Tarot Cards

  i own five tarot card decks, and use them often.

  not so often that i live my life by them, but enough.

  one deck is one i use more then others, as i feel more of a connection with the cards.

  I have Tarot Cards, wrapped in black silk, in a wooden box.

  I don't really beleive that bad spirits can enter them... but hay, why take the chance??? (I'm weird I know) hee hee

  Yes, they only seem to work for questions about me.I asked them about my parents, and they told me quite clearly things would never change.

  If one doesn't like the probably outcome, they can 'step off that path' by making different choices

  That's exactly right. Tarot show us what will happen if we continue on the path we are on. For example if I turned cards, and it showed a clandestine love affair, followed by complete destruction... well then I'd pretty much say, stop the affair!!! We chose our own paths, but sometimes a little guidance is appreciated.

  I think all boards go through 'quiet' phases though. Sometimes the 'steady' posters get busy with 'life', and new posters find it hard to find their feet, or feel nervous about joining in. All understandable I suppose!

  ok. i feel like i'm the only one on this discussion board who hasn't met at least one member.

  so i figured it was time to open my door and invite ya'll in for some southern hospitality.. i live in horn lake, ms which is about 35-40 minutes from memphis (depending on traffic).

  so you can use that to gauge how far you are from me.

  we have met up a few times, and it's great to be with others who understand (my sense of humour lol!).

  i have been df for 14 years, and in the process became the black sheep of the family ( a familiar story).

  Awww, thanks for the welcome!

  Anglise, I have had 2 meetups at my house- the first one, someone brought their cousin from Oz! lol so East Sussex isn't too far!

  I try to do sommat 'bigger' in the summer, but as I'm only quite new to this 'Big' thi summer, was till quite 'small' lol. There were 12 of us, but mostly from the North of England.

  Maybe next summer there'll be more? You included!

  One of the people from my meetup (lives even further up North in Hull) is having a meetup in January, and one of the members off the other board I mentioned is coming from Switzerland!!!! Wow. I think I would worry if someone had asked me where the nearest airport was! *yikes* time to move house. j/k

  JWs picking and choosing which rules to follow

  does anyone else find that many, many jehovah's witnesses pick and choose which rules they want to follow?

  my boyfriend's parents are jws and i have many, many examples to share with you!

  i'd love to hear if any of you have known of similar type things, or if you know any other rules that jws commonly break.

  that's quite a list! How do they get away with that? Wow, I think if I had been in their KH I wouldn't have left!!! lol

  What annoys me more is JWs that follow a 'rule' one minute, and then bend the same rule for someone else.

  For example, my mum would visit her brother when he was df. But now I am df my parents have nothing to do with me.

  And we would see my Uncle at my nan's when we visited her, and my mum said that's OK. But she won't come and see her grand children (my kids) because they are with me. It really makes no sense.

  I'm from the UK and have made quite a few ex JW friends. We have met up a few times, and it's great to be with others who understand (my sense of humour lol!)

  I have been df for 14 years, and in the process became the black sheep of the family ( a familiar story). I was df for being an unrepentant fornicator, and remain tarred with that brush despite being married for 13 years. Oh well!

  I have a Support Group http://groups.msn.com/ExJehovahsWitnessesSupportGroup but to be honest, if you're here, then that's the best thing anyone can do!
