I know EXACTLY how you feel! I can't hardly stand to be around JW's anymore. They almost seem to have this sickening sweet smell of superiority about them. I just want to scream at them, "WAKE UP!" I want to tie them to a chair and tape CoC in front of their eyes. I know it wouldn't do any good. I can't wait for the next stage to begin in my mental journey away from spiritual captivity.

Do JWs give you the creeps?
by sonnyboy ini'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but i've recently begun to get the willies when i'm around an active jehovah's witness.
this didn't happen until after i started posting here.. when i stop by my parents' house on a saturday morning and the witnoids show up, i get a sinking feeling in my stomach....a mix between sickness, fear, and anger.
i used to try and put on a happy face and be sociable when they came in, but now i just wave goodbye and as i'm walking out.

Another "truth" alternative
by Justin inever hear of harold camping, president of family radio?
he's an elderly gentleman who periodically sets dates for the end of the world and pleads with people to leave their churches, claiming that the "harvest" has now commenced.
sound familiar?

No thanks, I don't need anyone else telling me how to think. I'm smart enough to do that on my own.

Wow, awesome pictures! I'm sooo jealous right now! Count me in on ANY fishing! I find more spirituality standing in a river fishing on Sunday, than I ever did at a Kindom Hall!

Share a Story...
by misspeaches ini really enjoy reading the stories/experiences you guys all post on here from your jdub days..... the funny, ridiculous, ironic ones make me laugh but reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. the hurtful, sad, mean ones make me hurt as well but again - reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. the scandals that go on - well same again - they reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. i do appreciate the time you all take in writing down your stories and will never tire of reading them.
so if you have a story you haven't relayed here before because it is didn't seem relevant to a thread i would love to read it!.
cheers - miss peaches

My brother and I were once getting ready for the Memorial. We weren't rushing or anything, but just acting like any other normal meeting night. All of a sudden my mother burst in and told us to hurry up, we had to be at the Hall even earlier for the Memorial. All the 'submarines' would be there, and we had to beat them to get good seats. My brother laughed and asked what a submarine was. Mom replied that it was those people you never saw except at Memorial when they surfaced to get some of Jehovah's air. (At the time my dad was the service overseer. As the wife of a prominent elder I would have expected her to show just a little more love for her fellow brothers and sisters.)
We were hanging out at one of the local ministerial servants houses a few years back. This guy was pretty cool, but he had some serious designs on being an elder. So in public he always put on a spiritual show. Anyway there we all are hanging out in his entertainment room, when someone opens up his TV cabinet.......Would you believe it, AMERICAN PIE falls out! If you've seen it, you would know how un-JW that movie is. I still laugh about that to this day!

Suppose your Dub wife needed a blood transfusion? [just suppose]
by BluesBrother ina hypothetical question... it is easy to make decisions for oneself, or for children who come under your jurisdiction, but suppose that your consent were to be requested for emergency treatment involving blood, to a person that is a diehard witness?.
i am talking of a person that has spent her entire life in the borg and believes that blood transfusions are a sure pathway to contract aids or something else nasty.
if she were conscious i am not convinced that she would accept even the treatments with blood fractions, that they do allow.

I would have to respect my wifes wishes. If we expect our JW mates to respect our disbeif of WTS teaching, we likewise have to respect their belief in it. We all must find our own way.

Flurry of new hall builds or remodels?
by Pistoff inhi all.. what is going on in your area with respect to hall building or remodeling?
there are lots of remodel projects around my area; it does not seem that the growth is here to merit the building.. my hall is going to sell it's building to generate the cash for a new building; the current one is a 20 year old quick build.. the thing is this: i don't know why they just don't remodel, or split the hall.
the excuse is that there are not enough elders; so now they are going to put up a completely new structure to house a large congregation?

I used to be very active in the hall building work in our region of western Missouri. I think there is so much emphasis on Hall building because it serves to re-enforce the perception of Jehovah's blessing. It's an artificial way to build up an ongoing ever expanding movement idea. many times this is done to the financial hardship of the members. Case in point: one of the first hall builds I worked on was a congregation which encompassed at least three small towns. The brothers had calculated the morgtage payment based on the number of publishers in the congegation (standard procedure). With in one year of completing the project, a movement within the congregation began to divide and form a second congregation. Within one year they got their wish, and split. They built a second hall as soon as possible. Now you had TWO payments split among the same group of people.

Ironic, isn't it? The very religion that has argued so passionatly for it's "collective" freedom, is a worldwide leader in DENYING personal freedom to it's members. Where that newspaper article?

I don't think there's much wood in Antartica for burning. Better bring a sack of coal.
