Your are spot on, mate. It's true, the life of a JW is a life of fear. For me, the greatest of my new freedoms is the freedom from fear.

My favorite part was when they stated they were guided by holy spirit, yet they were imperfect men, and they couldn't even grasp the stupidity of their statement.

Have you ever lived in an RV fulltime?
by moshe ini spent about one year in 1982 living in a 32 ft travel trailer.
our home had burned down on jan 10th,1982 at night- -30 deg f. my wife, 2 yr old son, 4 yr old daughter and i traveled to many states that year.
many people dream of living the life of a free gypsy- no ties to any one place- north in the summer-south in the winter, living in a travel trailer or motorhome.

You can count me as an RV wannabe. That's my dream retirement, a nice phat RV bus w/ my Jeep Rubicon in tow. I'd hit every famous trout river the Rocky Mtns. had to offer, and winter out on the beaches of Florida.

Update: New Governing Body Pics - Have fun!
by Neo inthe twelve men who exert control over the lives of 6,000,000 people and who could put a stop to all the harm caused to families if they wanted to:
as i said in another thread, most of them started partaking the emblems after 1935. that's a clear sign that there's a corrosion of the "remnant" doctrine, because now most of the governing body are considered "replacements" of 'anointed ones who have fallen away'.
i finally found out the new gb members' ages.

They all have that "Jehovah's Witness" look to them. I can't put my finger on what it is but there is a certain look that JW's have.
That look is the surety of your own infallibillity. That or gas from Bethel chili.

Here's what one website had to say about Thiele's “correcting” of the Bible:
He never provides a link or documentation as to what website he is quoting from, yet this "website" is the lynch pin of his argument. I guess the graduates of The University of Awake are not educated on proper source documentation. He evidences the same twisted logic that the WTS employs.

Welcome to the board Joe! I know exactly how you feel. It's a hard process to go through as the mental controls start to come off your brain. I've been slowly going through it over the past four years. I finally decided to face it last August, and I found this forum. You'll like it here.
You sound like a young guy, I say strike out on your own. Challenge every preconceived idea you've ever been spoon fed. Go back to school, read anything and everything you can get your hands on about the Society. Finally, realize that you can indeed think for yourself, it's OK. Critical thought is how we grow as individuals.
I look forward to your future posts!

Dist. Conventions and Circuit Assemblies ~ Questions...
by Riverwatcher ini've got some questions about district conventions and circuit assemblies.
are j/w's required to attend them?
what if they can't afford to go?
-
jeeprube
The District Convention is like Woodstock to Jehovah's Witnesses. The Society pretty much demands attendance. For many it's the only vacation they can afford. There is very little tolerance for those without enough money to attend, as surley they could have been saving their pennies from the previous year. If your job interferes you are encouraged to quit or be fired, with the hope of Jehovah finding you a new job later.
For the younglings a DC is like a night club. The young brothers buy new suits, and the sisters sexy new dresses. When lunch comes they all spring into the hallways in a desperate effort get names and numbers.
I used to love District Conventions. I met my wife at one.

The Muslims are yet another example of the danger of religion.
