No, the god Jehovah, evolved over thousands of years. The information is easy to find, search for the "Hebrew God and where he came from". There's also hints in the bible, I can't believe I never saw it, for 30 years in witness world. The Jehovah character was a lesser god, when the almighty god or "El (according to the bible) was assigning each lesser god a group of peoples (which in ancient times was the norm) he gave Israel to YHWH or Jehovah and this was his inheritance from "El" (Deuteronomy 32:8-9). I recommend getting a Hebrew interlinear, if not it's really hard to distinguish when they are referring to YHWH or El, it's cleverly been translated "Lord" and "Almighty God", I did my research using the interlinear if not, I don't think I ever would have ever seen the "Truth". Also, there's references in the bible of the "Volcanic" nature of YHWH in the beginning.

i know some couples that truly believe this.. what's your view?
do you believe there's a soulmate out there for you?.
I used to, but now I know better. There's so many people we could be compatible with, that soulmate idea, to me, is just a fantasy.

i see that there are many people on here who've left the jw's and are still christians...but i wonder what type?

Hi Winston, welcome to our wonderful community! You can read my story when you get a chance, I was in the "Lie" for over 30 years, spent about a year researching the WTS and realized I had been duped. Happily I can report that my husband and kids have been liberated, and so have my brothers and sisters, and my best freind and her kids. My mom however is another story, she's still a reg. pioneer and at her age, I know she will die there. Life has never been better now that we are all mentally free! I wish you the best with your wife, keep us posted, there's great people on here who will support and help you in your journey!
Good Luck!

thanks in advance for the help..
Hi, I am originally from Corona, Queens. I was in for about 30 years and got out about 3 years ago. What's your family members name?

have posted this on the other thread but just making this one as well:
i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.
he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.
Faundy, I am Sorry for your loss, Ian was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. Much Peace to you, IC
although i'm pretty much an atheist, i still like reading the bible.
it's an amazing literary masterwork to say the least.. my question is, after discovering that the new world translation of the wts was poorly translated and altered in ways designed to support their various peculiar doctrines (see john 1:1, etc.
), what bible translation are you all the most fond of?.
Mine is "The Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine...oh and nature of course. IC
this will be very interesting, i only wish it would make the rounds on the jw emails the same way "knocking" did, fat chance!
we can only hope that pbs and nova will jump on this bandwagon as well, sooner than later.
holy moses!
You are welcome Gopher, I accidentally posted this twice, because the formatting was messed up, so there are two topics about this. Anyway, the Abraham thing always intrigued me when I was a witness, years ago while I was still an active JW, I asked my Mom who is a staunch JW regular pioneer, why there was no tomb of Abraham or of any other bible person, she said that Jehoover made sure that there would be no hero worship by keeping their burial places hidden, and my poor brainwashed mind accepted that explanation, although with a little hesitation. I am marked it on my calendar and will post a reminder on that week. IC
