What did Satan ever do wrong, anyhow? I don't remember ever reading the actual story of his downfall in the bible... is it there somewhere?

Would Jesus forgive Satan if he repented?
by DavidChristopher inasked the elder conducting my book study today...he didn't know.
how about a little help here old buddy.. if no...then why continue to "preach the good news" to convince them to repent?
that would be a waste of time.. if yes?....who would he not forgive?.

You have the opportunity to show them that a good and successful person can leave the organization and still be good and successful in life.

Assume the Position!
by yaddayadda injan 15 2006 watchtower, 2nd study article, last paragraph says:
"....likewise, satan will 'flee from us' in defeat if we are in full submission to jehovah and prayerfully rely on him.
(ephesians 6:18) with the support of jehovah god and his beloved son, nobody can do us permanent harm - no, not even internet apostates the devil!

You're just getting started guy. Don't let one incident get you down. You've made the first step of getting out there to meet people like you. The rest will come in time.
It's kinda like learning how to date all over again, isn't it?

Is it possible for a person to EARN being president?
by DavidChristopher incould we have a contest when a bunch of unsolved problems start plagueing our society?
get together all the brightests minds around, put them on tv.
give them the problems and see which one has the best ideas?
-

This assumes that the president and/or government should be the solution to societal problems. Most often, government is a cause of problems, not the solution.

February 2007 - The Prophecy Experiment
by nicolaou in.
here's how it works.
you make a prophecy that is due to be fulfilled a year from now, in february 2007. now of course, experience has taught us that if a prophecy is too specific the probablities that it will be fulfilled are reduced, conversely, if the prophecy is too vague any fulfillment will be difficult to assess and of little value.. so, make a prophecy with tight enough parameters so that it will generate interest and allow the observer to be "on the watch" but broad enough to give yourself the widest possible chance of fulfullment.. sure, it's a long term prophecy and we all have the attention span of a soap bubble but i'll bump the thread periodically and make a note in my diary for this time next year.. february 2007 - we should be able to anoint our new, chief prophet!

Feb 2007 - The army of the north will meet the army of the south for a beer.
Of course, the terms "army," "north," "south," "meet," and "beer," shall be very much open to interpretation as they are symbolic terms.

Question about "good works" ??? ???
by Kristofer innot ever having been a jw, i was curious to know something.... are witnesses ever encouraged to do good works for the less fortunate?
(giving to the poor, working in a soup kitchen, helping the elderly, other volunteer work, etc..).
i know scripture states you will know believers by their "fruit".

The Watchtower is a business masquerading as a benevolent religious organisation.
Are you sure you don't mean malevolent? :)

Scholarship for former JW's Proposal
by NYCkid insince such a program does not exist as far as i'm aware of, i am proposing setting up a scholarship program for former jw's.
from my understanding, a non-profit entity and a committee would need to be formed (not sure of legal criteria for european, australian, asian, latin american and south american countries).
although specific scholarship criteria would be discussed and formed by a committee, i believe this should only be offered to those who have taken the step to leave the organization and who have enrolled in a two-year or four-year undergraduate and graduate programs.. anyway, i've mentioned this to former jw friends in the past who all think it's a great idea but it goes nowhere...anyone on this board interested?

A few questions to ponder:
1) How would you determine if an applicant is actually a former JW? What kind of proof would be possible?
2) Perhaps current JWs could also apply. Getting them into college will help break the bonds.
It would be cool to be able to put a button on web pages like JWD so folks could donate $10 or $20 pretty easily.
