What's more logical? Believing in the sanctity of life based on each individual's humanity and right to exist, or believing in arbitrary moral rules that a being can change and exempt both himself and others from on a whim?

My JW friend drinks a lot and seems generally unhappy. We don't get into deep conversations much, but he does mention that he generally feels poorly each morning because he drank too much the night before.
if this topic has been discussed previously, i apologize, but next week i unfortunately must attend the dc which is being held at the local assembly hall.
there are benefits to this as i don't have to rent a car or room for myself and family.
the downside to this is that it will now be harder to miss segments of the program or an entire day without being scrutinized.
It seems as though this would have a psychological effect on members. Smaller DC's will cause people to remember the "good ole days" when they would hang out with 20,000 other witnesses. If they shrink to 4-5,000 at each convention, the perception will start hitting home that membership is dropping.
The Watchtower appears to be managing decline rather than growth.
my wife has a classmate that recently married a pakistani man.
he's here only on a student visa and is faced with returning to pakistan as soon as he graduates.
he has an application for greencard pending but the wheels turn slow.
