Laptop Users I need your help

i'm going to buy my first laptop in the next week or two.i want to know what else i'll end up needing to go online with it at a wifi hotspot?there are a few of them around where i live at coffee shops and things like that.do i need a wireless service provider when i'm at these hot spots??.

also what would you recomend i get for use at home?i have a dsl modem that will allow me to have 4 computers pluged into one modem.i want to be able to use my laptop anywhere in my house.what do i need to reach these goals with a laptop??.

i've heard of wireless cards and wireless routers.but i don't know what they do or if i need them.i've never used a laptop before i have only ever used a desktop..

So I'll need a wireless router with a password to protect it.Where would I get one of those?From my internet service provider??Or can I go to a store and buy one??I looked at my modem and I noticed it says wireless on it.So would my router go plugged into my modem to access the net at home??

I don't think this computer comes with the wireless card.I'm buying a used laptop because I didn't want to get windows vista.I'm getting it from a computer store in my town.It will have a clean hard drive they take everything off the computer and wipe the memory and reinstall all the software.The operating system and everything.They also get all the updates and install those before you pick it up.It will come with Windows XP it has a CD burner and DVD player.

I would like to upgrade the CD burner DVD player to a DVD burner and CD burner because I plan on using this laptop for my digital camera.I can take video with my camera.I have no way at the moment to get the videos off my computer I have right now.I would like to be able to burn them onto a DVD.I can take over an hour of video on my camera.It doesn't do me much good at the moment to have a digital video camera without being able to share them with my family and friends.I know I can buy a DVD burner/CD burner at a computer store and have these guys put it in for me.I also like the idea of being able to take my computer with me if I want to get out of the house.

How do you protect your wireless connection at home??So people like youdon't steal my bandwith??What is bandwith and how do you get it??Will my ISP give me that??How much does it cost??

Will I need a wireless card to get online at these hotspots??The place that I'm buying my laptop from has these wireless cards for $36.00.How many hours or downloads is that good for??

I don't have a router I have a DSL modem that will let me hook up 4 computers to it at a time.All with wires.I think they are called ethernet wires.I don't know.

Calling All UK ers I'm coming for a visit.

and i need advice on what to see.i'm not coming till next summer but i would like to know what i should plan to go see and what should i stay away from.i'm going to be traveling alone.a single female american.. .

i want to see london.i know that.i want to see the crown jewels and buckingham palace.i want to see the changing of the guard.i want to ride a double decker bus.i want to ride the tube.i also want to go out and see the country side.i'm planning on going to the aposta bbq next year.i was also thinking of taking the train to paris while i'm there just to see the eiffel tower.maybe only for a day or so.i also want to see scotland and ireland if i can.maybe only the big citys but i still want to go.. .

i'm going to get a monthly rail pass so i can travel around here and there for about 2 or 3 weeks depends on the money.i also want to go over to europe if i can.since i'll be so close i can't see why i shouldn't.lol i also here flights are cheep so why not.. .

I'm planning on staying for 2 too 3 weeks at most.I hope.Like I said it won't be till next year in July but I want to research and get maps and guide books and plan where to go and how long to stay.Wherever possible I hope to meet other EX JW's along the way so I'm not alone for the whole trip.I think that will make it more fun.

This is going to be my first trip over seas.I've never been out of the US before.I would love to see everything.But I know I can't.

My main goal is to see as much of the UK as I can.If I have time and the money I would like to go possiably to Germany,my family is from Germany but they have been in the US since 1752 and none of my family has ever been to Germany except in the service in WW2 since then.I also want to maybe go to the Prague I have a friend there I would like to meet.These would be day trips or just over night.I might also like to see but not climb the Alps.

I know for sure I want to see Ireland and Scotland.But I don't know what to go see.Dublin sounds nice.I don't know any citys in Scotland to go see.Any and all suggestions will be looked into.I'm not affriad to leave the beaten path even by myself.

and talking (or typing) helps.. if he can't (which he likely won't) get a job here, but gets one down in _fill in the blank_ and we can't sell the house (which we likely won't) .......... .

The only thing I can suggest is to look for work and housing in another state and move ASAP.Before your credit is affected and you can't even rent a place.Also look into bankruptcy.It's not pretty nor easy but it would get you out from under a mortgage if you do intend to move and just leave your house. Otherwise you risk not only your credit but you risk having the mortgage company come after you when they do sell the house for what is owed on the rest of the loan.They can take you to court and sue you for it and garnish your wages.But I would wait till you move that way you will be able to at least rent a place till you can buy again.I hope it works out for you and your family.

I would apply for unemployment.He would qualify for it.And the good thing about it is that he's paid into it so it's not money for free like people think.It may give you some breathing room till you can move or find a new job.Not only that but you could qualify for food stamps if your job and his unemployment don't provide enough to feed your kids. Also most states offer retraining for those on unemployment so he could go to school for next to nothing.Don't forget the free medical to kids.And the free lunches provided by schools when school gets back in. Just some ideas.

Sad News Orangefatcat's husband died this morning.

this is one of the sadest days in my life, my beloved husband marco passed away this morning at 5:15 am.. it has been a dreadful day.

but my dear friend was with most of the day while we went togerther to make funeral arrangements.. that was really hard on me.

i have done nothing but cry and cry all day, i finally fell asleep a few hours ago while my friend diane was here and she let me sleep.

Saw my first magazines in 20 years tonight

my partner was out getting pizza and brought back the awake with the wt tucked in (that bit i remember).

they were sept 06 ones and he found them in a shopping trolley!

he brought them home to show me.

I don't know if they are smaller but a few weeks ago I saw some in a local restaurant and I picked them up and ripped them in half and tossed them in the trash.I got some weird looks for it but I felt really good doing it.
