The "great crowd" before 1935 and since
by Doug Mason inwhat was the seismic shift in thinking that rutherford required when he created the great multitude in 1935?
when did the great multitude, or the great crowd as it is now known, become jehovahs witnesses?.

Thanks Doug. I really do admire all the research done by loads of folk here. I find it interesting and informative to confirm once again why I no longer believe what the slave says so good on you! Cheers -

Active posters: What education have you had, what degrees do you possess?
by EndofMysteries infrom so many posts and conversations on here, you'd think over 1/2 the posters here possess doctorates in theology, physics, biology, etc.
i'm curious aside from the books and research people have done here, what degrees they have.

I got an AA too but I still really love red wine. It's so not about letters after your name it's about life experience. -

Yep get the negative comments but really this was not about convincing the currents to leave it was about prospective not joining. Who really cares - it was bloody funny and I for one dreamed of putting my hand up to answer and come out with something they would prefer not to hear, never had the guts though. Good job guys -

she passed faithful to the end to them!
by jookbeard injust found out (second hand of course) and by someone on here that my faithful jw mum passed away within the last couple of days, dont know the exact day, and what cause, she spent the last few years living with my fanatical sister, she was 65 and survived my father by 10 years, bitter, angry and hateful till the end and never as so much enquired or asked how her 2 grandchildren ever were , they are 5 and 7!
feeling a mixture of emotions right now, they were lousy parents in all honesty, she suffered health wise so maybe its for the best, dont even know when the funeral is!

Oh wow. Geez that is terrible. Best wishes to you and yours. Just know that in her heart she loved you but may not have been able to show it. Take care -

Hey I'm really sorry about your situation. I know so many people here can truly sympathise. No it's not right and it is never about love and wishing the df'd person to come back. The new rule a while back was that certain chosen sheeple could make ministry calls on the df'd to encourage them back and to talk spiritually with these ones! Elder approved nominees of course. Bizarre little rules they make up for themselves. I have discussed many times with my elder bro about having a family gathering for my Mum including my df'd bro while she is still alive instead of an awkward funeral but no way. Could not put aside faith for a day. I've argued that IS their faith so weak that their conscience be that affected by showing love for our Mum?
I really think that in their heads they get kudos from big J or the borg for displaying such unfaltering loyalty. I have given up that score but point out the hypocrisy of talking to me or my nieces who no longer practice that in all reality we are just the same sinners but eh - we don't have a label or were clever enough to be 'sorry' and not get the label.
It's like banging your head into a watermelon. Why do it, it's silly but very funny. You have some really great advice in these posts and really wish you well but remember to love yourself first and forgive yourself first. You may well be able to forgive your folks then. Cheers

Religions Are - Awesome Quote
by yodastar inmy wife grew up without a religious upbringing.
she was passed down a german bible given to her grandfather in 1935 which had a hand written inscription by two jewish colleagues of her grandfather at the time.
inside was a quote either written by her relatives or anonymous, not sure which but i really had to share it as it really sums it up for me - enjoy!.

Absolutely Heaven. The more I have read this quote - turns out written by my wife's Dad (smart guy) the more I can take solace in understanding life without the domination of the org. It just so makes sense now and life certainly loves us if we make the most of it. Cheers -

The theory of big J escaping to Japan makes more sense to me. You would think that in the story since he was the saviour you would think the bigger J would have at least made sure that there was some irrefutable evidence but no... we would just have to believe and have faith, yawn -

The witnesses got away with covering up another molestation case
by recovering inhttp://www.webpronews.com/jehovahs-witnesses-get-only-partial-dismissal-in-child-molesting-case-2015-04.
i find it extremely interesting the comment of one of the posters who is studying with the witnesses.. frank j karasienski 3 days ago .
individuals are flawed..... looking at this article it really makes it look like an organization is hiding the situation.

Judgement is the main crux of the dubs. They throw stones willy nilly, every religion is wrong to them, hypocrites.
What's that defence about they waited too long after their 18th b'day ( six years ) ? Surely that's rubbish. There has been priests done 30 years later so why not for the uber elder?
This is about the borg as a whole, they just hate being judged themselves but at least they have lots of cash for the lawyers. SHAME on them.
It's never about the victims for them - always about protection of their so called divine borg so seriously - recovering, you have to take a look at who you are joining, it's never about faith it's about blind loyalty so good luck if you ever get baptized, freedom of thought will then be banished

The Science Is In: God Is The Answer...
by OUTLAW inthe science is in: god is the answer.
research shows kids raised with spirituality are happier and healthier in the vulnerable teen years.
why arent we all signing up?.

Totally agree with finallyawake and cofty. The dubs offer that social network. If it wasn't for the brainwashing then it would be a good thing to grow up in but there were sooo many negatives. Belonging to a healthy social group in our communities without judgement would offer the same peer group consciousness.
Starting again from leaving a lifetime social group is the kicker. Purpose and identity is gone, no wonder it's a struggle for many, we no longer have the significance we once had. We just have to figure out to get that in a healthy way instead of destructive.

Wow crazy thread! So strongly disagree with the argument that religious upbringing promotes healthy teens.
Seriously. I would love to see the statistics of these people in their late 20's. I have meet plenty of people not dub-dumbed or any other cultish upbringing and they have their own conscience free from guilt and fear and judgement.
If a child is bought up with love and self awareness and the ability to question situations ( not just blankly accept rules ) then, on the whole their set for life.
At least this sort of rubbish promotes discussion but that's about it.
