Are You "Technically" Still A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ineven if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?
your thoughts please..

I have been inactive for 10 years now, I was publicly censored (not sure if that is the term) when I got married to my non JW wife ...for marrying her. I use to go to assemblies mostly because of my mom but lately haven't been to any in like the last 3 years. I still attend memorial mainly for my mom. Now that I think about it, not once has any elder even tried to contact me to get me back....then again towards the later parts of my active days I was kind of considered the black sheep. The only one that hounds me about going back is my dad. I once thought about calling an elder out of the blue and giving so,e outrageously high time report (fake, always was fake anyways) and kind of leaving him dumfounded. -

What was your eye opening moment?
by WasOnceBlind inif you had to pinpoint the time or experience that finally made you open your eyes, what would it be?.
i think for me it was the time i saw my dad shun his brother who he had not seen in decades just because he was a da'ed jw.
i thought to my self "no way jesus would do that.

Except "inactive" ones aren't going to see this because they won't be there!
This is pure propaganda to make those that remain in the cult feel better about shunning the family members and former friends. You hit the nail right in the head! I am really not looking forward to my seeing my Dad after his DC. He usually goes into cult mode after everyone but I'm sure that with this one he will take it to the extreme. I have been inactive for about 9 years now, you would think he gets it (I'm never going back) but just a month ago he started bugging me about when I'm going back to meetings. I said IDK. After this DC I can just picture the awkward conversation we will be having and I wouldn't put it past him to try to ambush me with some elder when I go over to his house (daily basis) to pick up my son.

The Reason Why Jehovah's Witnesses Will Never Prosper Is The Children
by minimus ini believe that the religion will remain stagnant due to their achilles heel, the kids, the children, that next generation.. most of them really don't wa t to be in the religion.
the parents may have tried everything within their power to make the kids love jehovah but we all know you can't force someone to love you and you can't make a grown person stay in a relationship or situation if they really don't want to be there..

Many children of JW's may go through a phase of not wanting it, but they still stay, even if they don't entirely believe it, because it becomes their way of life, their social life, their normal paradigm.Sadly this is true and I have seen it personally. Growing up a JW I had two friends who were never really into being JW, I was certain that once they grew up they were out. To my surprise they are both still deep in it and one is even a MS, but I can guarantee that neither knows anything about the doctrines and they are just there because of the social club aspect of it and because they don't want to be DF'ed.

The Governing Body is indicted.
by John Aquila inthe governing body of the watchtower is not as immune as they might think..
anything can happen at any time to any organization no matter how big, how powerful, how religious or how long they been involved in wrongdoing.. .
fifa, the powerful and polarizing governing body for soccer, came under prosecutorial assault from two fronts wednesday.

Hopefully many witnesses would question why the Borg was attacked before Babylon the Great and the facade would come tumbling down.
NOPE! Knowing them they would call it the start of the great tribulation!

well more than a tattoo, it is a half sleeve.
my parents haven't seen it, thanks to the chilly weather i've been wearing a sweater around them.

Ok, so I went ahead and got a tattoo. Well more than a tattoo, it is a half sleeve. My parents haven't seen it, thanks to the chilly weather I've been wearing a sweater around them. However, it is projected to be pretty hot next week so that is just not going to work anymore. Therefore I am going to have to show it to them, I am not looking forward to dealing with my dad. My mom will be upset but she will get over it, but my dad might just stop talking to me period. I have played in my head a couple of different scenarios, mainly them telling me how I know what is right/wrong and choosing the wrong and how I am being wordly. I'm pretty much going to stick with my "the bible doesn't forbid this" argument and it is a matter of personal conscience and mine is completely clean. As for worldly, IDK what they expect, I have been inactive for 9 years, I wonder if they are just in denial about the fact Im never going back. -

Paradise is going to suck!
by WasOnceBlind inonce you really start thinking about it, the whole paradise idea is kind of depressing.
i remember growing up as kids my sister was the first to tell my parents (admittedly very courageously) that she wasn't sure she wanted to live in paradise, it sounded boring living forever.
i thought she was dumb for thinking that, i mean playing with lions!!!!

I feel a lot of you are still missing the other point, no one knows the bar set so no one knows who would be there. Think of kids with no parents, parents with no kids, siblings missing their siblings. -

Lemonparty.org8 minutes agoI wouldn't mind living forever. I would devote much time to singular pursuits so that I became very very good at certain things as time went on.
Of course once you found the time, after the farming and clothes making and tons of other jobs were done right... -

I remember growing up as kids my sister was the first to tell my parents (admittedly very courageously) that she wasn't sure she wanted to live in Paradise, it sounded boring living forever. I thought she was dumb for thinking that, I mean playing with lions!!!! Eventually thought I started thinking about it and I started to agree with her. Not only would it be boring, it would straight out be miserable. I mean think about it, with technology gone it would be a cycle of never ending manual labor. Building, farming, harvesting, making clothing from scratch, days to travel a couple hundred miles, etc. Then comes the emotional side of things that JW's never think about. For example, no one can really know who will be in paradise because only Jehovah really knows a person and only he will judge. So imagine a resurrected wife who died a loyal JW before her husband, eagerly awaiting to reunite, only to find out that he remarried after her death or that it turns out he wasn't loyal until the end. Now there she is all alone. Even worse, what if she had children and is eagerly awaiting to see them....except they all ended up not making it to paradise. Now she has no husband and no kids....but at least she will meet Moses -_-
Don't they ever stop to think about the reality of things and realize how silly this resurrecting in paradise idea is? I wouldn't want to be resurrected just to find out I'm all alone there.

Anti-JW billboard going up in Texas
by sunny23 inthe first ever billboard has been crowd funded on reddit and will be going up.
i'm curious to know if it will cause a spark in any jw's who already have questions or doubts and lead them to research into the child abuse cases and lead them to the thought that the wt and gb are not inspired or gods mouthpiece.
at the very least it will provide people a topic of conversation and questions to the jw's who knock on their door: "so whats this whole sex abuse in kingdom halls thing about i saw on the billboard down the road?

I don't consider that a smear campaign. This is a real issue and real kids are at real risk here! I would want one here in California.
