I totally understand where you are coming from. I am around the same age as you and I know for a fact that growing up a JW has negatively affected me. My parents discouraged college so they never planned for me going, even thought I'm naturally athletic I was never allowed to play sports growing up (so athletic scholarships were not an option), I was never allowed to have worldly friends and now that I don't associate all my JW "friends" have abandoned me.

Hypocrisy of JW Thinking After Tragedy Like Paris

when they see something like what happened in paris, in person they will express how sad and detestable it is quickly followed by "this is why we need the kingdom, and the desert god is gonna fix everything.
" here is where i get perplexed.

On saturday I actually had a chance to spread TATT on instagram. Some JW posted a comment about how this proves these are the last days, then pointed people to JW.org to find out more. Well right below him I told him he had been lied and pointed him to JWFacts.com

Discussion with a Pioneer: CONCLUSION

the final part of our discussion took us back to the very beginning where he was asking my christian friend a question about the trinity.
i wasn't convinced that david received an answer that was satisfying [essentially its a mystery, god is too big to understand etc..] i wanted to talk about that more.

Brooklyn Bethel Tours Through The Roof

the brooklyn tour i heard was awful, very limited and disappointing and conducted by a local pioneer and not even a bethelite.
well from what they are telling the folks on the tour since the tm3 bit encouraging (guilting) people about going to disneyland on vacation when you haven't visited bethel, monthly tours went from 6000 to 16000!

Possible crack in the door that I can expose
by WasOnceBlind inso on monday when i went to pick up my son from my mom i noticed a framed print out of a poem on my moms living room.
it was in spanish but i read it and i was kind of surprised at what it said.
i don't remember it verbatim but i would go as far as to say it had some apostate factors in there.

Yes, I dont think my mom believes that either. My grandfather died about two years ago, she would alway try preaching to him but he never became a witness. He was a good person thought. She always talks about seeing him again in paradise. I don't have the heart to tell her, "well according to WT teachings...he won't be there" -

"Friends" are gone

lots of acquaintances and associates but 2 or 3 i would consider my true friends.
that list is now 0. yup, once i told them i no longer believe in the org and haven't for a long time, and their attempts to encourage me thru jw lingo and terminologies to "rely on jehovah" and not to "stray away" failed that was pretty much it.

I have gone thru a similar experience, I have one friend who is a JW who still hangs out with me, we have been best friends since little. He isn't what I would consider even remotely "spiritual" but for some reason he just wont wake up. I think it's mostly the social club aspect of it, anyways, he is single right now and will only date JW. I have no doubt that when he marries a JW not only will I not be invited to his wedding, but he will probably stop hanging out. Sad how this cult works.
