i was just thinking.

since christmas is about the birth of christ, i know dec 25 was not his birthday, probly born around late sept or early oct. i guess he wanted to be born right before the baseball playoffs and world series, just kidding.

Good point Aztect. That is because most people who celebrate Christianity are in fact not christians like the atheist I am currently pointing out.

From the wreaths to the trees to mistletoe to exchanging gifts: it's all pagan. Just cause someone slapped the name of Christ on it doesn't make it Christian.

Again these are carryovers from pagan tradition but they have no sagnifigance there not use as instraments of worship there just silly decorations. Let me give you an example of what I mean. I have a poster from the 70's punk band The Damned, it is just a decoration it is not an instrament of worship. Just like wrieths and missletoe and other junk that creeps up on Christmas

The thread deals with Atheist (deny the belief in God, even any God of some sort) Pagans (believe is some sort of god or deity out their even if it is some made up mystery out in space like the Aztec gods of Mexico)

Second Christmas is different that the pagan special secular day of Winter Solstice. Let me explain Winter Solstice is about worshiping the creation like Douglas Fur pine trees or toads out in the local creek and getting high on some mind blowing narcotics or what ever pagans do on winter solstice day.

Christmas is about worshiping the Creator Jesus Christ who came into the world hence all those cool little melodies about Jesus like "The First Noel" or "Go Tell it on the Mountain" or "Emanuel you here this time. The Christmas tree is a carryover tradition from the pagans but un like you guys we dont worship trees it's just a decoration Like the head of an 8 point buck I shot in El Dorado County two years ago,

But then they shouldnt call it Christmas, they should call it National run up your Mastercharge day..... But yet that is a by-product that has attached itself to Christmas but is not really part of the intention of Christmas.

The cool stuff you enjoy on Dec 25 comes from a world View you deny but yet invalidate your own objections to this Christian world view even worse reduce your anti Christian objections to meaninglessness and pointless drivel when you enjoy the fruits of and borrow from the very world view you deny. That is when you celebrate Christmas you demonstrate that your objections to Christian Theism are invalid and pointless by your participation in this Christmas activity fueled by the Christian World view.

BTW it is this world view that judges you.

That maybe so but to what extent is debatable. The point is that Christmas has a Christian intention and thus is full of Christian Thiesm.

Yet what puzzels me is that those athiest who deny God suspend thier futile campain against the One and Only Holy and Almighty Creator every December and get really geeked up over and cellebrate Christmans, a birth of the God/Man Jesus Christ. Athieist cellabrate the birth of a King, a Savior who on judgment day is not going to save the athiests who deny the truth of his exestance. Yet, they (these atheist) cellebrate Christmas.

Maybe sentamentalism is stronger than athiestistic dogma.

But I suspect you really get into Christmas spirit when your singing songs about Jesus this time of year, Like Charles Westley's "Hark the Harold Sings" Set to Mendelssohn's tune. Why should we believe and practice athiesm, you don't Donkey you celebrate Christmas. I would encourage you to check out a BIBLE believing Presbyterean church or a calvinistic Baptist church.

Is it not a contradiction of your Dogmatic Atheism, since the intention of Christmas has to do with God and Jesus Christ? When you celebrate Christmas, are you not borrowing capitol from those Theistic Christians? Is not celebrating Christmas a dialectical tension to your atheistic worldview. Is not celebrating the 1st coming of God the son in human flesh inconsistent with your atheistic dogma? Or do you athiest refuse to celebrate Christmas just like the JWs refuse to celebrate Christmas??????????????

1. it's a big surprise if they give you a direct answer.. 2. if you corner them they will resort to one of three things: 1) say the scripture is a bad translation (of course the verses they quote are always perfect translations); 2) they change the subject; 3) they start playing word games with you.. 3. many of them view traditions and other writings by famous jws as having more authority than the word of god.. 4. their doctrine completely conflicts with bible doctrine.. 5. the watchtower is their head (athough the bible says christ is the head of the church)

Look it is a matter of doctrinal fact that JWs do not believe in sola scriptura or the bible alone is the final authority, nor do they believe in the suffeciancy of scripture for those doctrines are abhorred by them. To them it is bible + WT and its publications.
