Discussion with a Pioneer
by Saved_JW intwo weeks ago i had an opportunity to meet up with a pioneer whom a friend had accepted a "bible study" from.
my christian friend invited me to come along as support, so my plan was to sit back and listen for the most part.
well, that was the idea anyways.

Please could you give me your opinions on this statement? . . .
by Miss Worldly in'i have prayed, and confessed my sins to my god, i'm not telling them (the elders) anything'.
.. could this be a significant sign that there maybe a small dent in the armour of an active jw?
or is it just a case of 'keep your nose out' ?

If it was one of the "serious sins" that they constantly say in WTs that have to be confessed to elders, then the person probably has a "dent in their armor". It seems they have at least one article or assembly talk a year that states that "serious sins" (dfing offenses) have to be confessed to the elders in order to gain forgiveness. -

Maybe his numbers and the congregations' numbers were bad. If there was a downward trend or if a few BoEs had contacted the branch about him, they would look to replace him just like you'd replace a middle manager. -

I hadn't seen in on the main page. The only place I saw it before was after logging in. Interesting... -

I miss my family so much. I thought I was over it but I have breakdowns every few months thinking about my family
by macys inas most of you know i have been shunned by my family for 2 years because of a photo posted on facebook of me kissing another girl at a party.
the matter was not dealt with fairly but it is over now and i am 100% certain that jdub org is a cult.
but i miss my family so much.

Lots of people go back, get reinstated, and then fade. I don't see a problem with it if you can stomach it. Understand, though, that you will still be subject to JW rules. Even though Geoffrey Jackson said that inactive ones are not hounded, there have been recent experiences of ones who were inactive for years and yet were df'd when someone spotted them with a girlfriend/boyfriend or they said something against the org. -

Is my friend on the way out of the organisation?
by The Rebel inwhen i left the watchtower i realised it was best to put friendships on hold.
however i mentioned to my best friend that i didn't agree with how they handled child abuse issues and that was one of the reasons i left.. anyway as i am fortunate and own two rental apartments and he is a plumber so we have kept in contact, in that i email him when i require his services and he sends me the invoice.
anyway i am now dissociated, but yesterday i emailed him about a pluming problem, and he replied.. " sorry we missed going to the indian ( this was a comment made about us having a meal together about 9 months ago, which i backed out of because i felt he was too indoctrinated and i had not disassociated myself) anyway his email continued:-.

I say go to a meal with him and just act like a friend. If he brings up the pedophile problem or asks questions, answer them. I wouldn't unload everything on him. Let him ask questions first. Then you can start asking him questions to lead him to the answers. Just like we were taught as JWs, use leading questions.

No worries. They won't get a dime from me, not even the local congregation fund. The most I might give them is couple bucks to feed the visiting speaker. -

Couldn't take it anymore.
by Darkknight757 inso i decided yesterday to give my wife's full disclosure.
not sure it was the best decision considering she holds very firmly to the resurrection hope so we can see our babies again.. anyways she is agreeable to begin a study to find a better truth.
where is a good place to go to get some good reliable biblical info on the web that we can consider together?.

The reason I like the NIV Study Bible is the loads of extra information that you don't get with online versions. I'm told the New Jerusalem Bible also has loads of historical information as well. -

that final song was like icing on the cake. Lost it for a bit.
That song was horrendous. It was so cultish I couldn't stand it.

Special Pioneer Couple Living at a Kingdom Hall In Miami FL, get the dreaded Letter
by James Jack injust got a phone call from an older sister saying that a couple that got re-assigned from bethel 4 years ago to live at their kh apartment as special pioneers, just received a letter saying "as of january 2016, your special pioneer assignment will be discontinued".. they live in a south miami kh(snapper creek congregation).. this couple had only served in bethel for 15 years before they were sent out into the special pioneer work.
they are now in their mid 50's and the sister said that they have to find part time jobs to support themselves.. the older sister (does not have a pc or internet), says that the couple are just devastated!

I doubt they have a lease, but even if you allow someone to stay in your house rent free you have to give them 30 days notice before you evict them.
