Watchtower do you know what your shunning is doing?
by clarity inthe human brain has a neural interdependence that underpins the human need to group together.
learn why we need others to thrive and survive on the next episode of the brain with david eagleman, airing tonight at 10/9c on pbs.. watchtower knows that isolation is a killer and yet they enforce it.. they are murdering our brains!.

Meetings, Ministry and Modification of the Flesh
by slimboyfat insociology of the body is a popular topic for critical analysis.
i wonder if a general survey has been undertaken in relation to watchtower's exercise of authority over the bodies of adherents.
it occurs to me they exercise authority over the body in four main ways: appearance, private practice, public performance, and location.

Where is the instruction that couples shouldn't hold hands during a prayer. I've searched the WT Library and can't find the reference.
Thanks,

If anyone ever reads this from my old congregation, it'll give me away... I had my ringtone set to "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" and it went off once during the meeting. I turned 50 shades of red. I didn't live that one down for a while. -

A question about fading....
by Tornintwo ini understand that many on this forum are undertaking a slow fade, over months, years even.. can i ask what is the benefit of that instead of a fast fade?.
as i understand it, the elders only have to deal judicially with people who are still active witnesses, known in the community as witnesses, having contact and influence with witnesses etc.
so surely the sooner you stop attending meetings the better.

There are one or two elders in my old congregation that I would refer to as bulldogs, one for sure. If he were to catch wind that I might no longer agree with WT teachings, he may not let it go. So I put on a show. I'm also building up "worldly" friends and would like to keep 1 or 2 of the friends in the congregation, at least until they decide to shun me. I can't make friends at work (work at home), so it takes quite a bit of effort to find acquaintances. -

I wanted to abruptly "fade". I was determined to. My wife wanted me to talk to the elders about my doubts. After talking exposing to them that I was having doubts, I didn't want to raise any apostate flags by quitting cold-turkey. I went back to a few meetings and to an assembly. My attendance has definitely dropped though. I'd move to another area, but can't right now.
My wife wanted to change congregations, so we're doing that. My attendance at the new congregation will most likely continue to decline.

To be fair. They're not advocating preparing for Armageddon with supplies, at least they didn't in my congregation when they had similar announcements and skits. They are actually being practical and helping the JWs prepare for natural disasters. I actually think it's a good thing and wish other groups would advocate the same idea.
There probably is a bit of selfishness on the borg's part in doing this. If the individual JWs have already set aside disaster supplies, the borg will not have to provide them as much when a natural disaster strikes. Since disaster relief is the only way that the borg is "charitable".

Happy Veterans Day! (America)
by freemindfade inpeople have varied and strong feelings about politics and wars, but you can't deny the courage a sacrifice of our veterans.
too often they do not get the honor they deserve.
in this country once they come home their sacrifice and heroism is too quickly forgotten.

I appreciate the veterans. I think too often people equate the veterans with the wars that politicians cause. Veterans have my respect and gratitude. The politicians on the other hand... -

Right after 2 elders talked to me about being in a foreign language congregation and how it was a privilege and I should be there to support the congregation, they had a local needs talk with the exact same information that they talked with me about. Made me wonder if my wife and I were being "marked".
