Is zeal beginning to vanish?
by Caupon init has to be starting to fade somehow.
the very last time i went out in field service, hardly any were out.
maybe just about nine people were out and man if you could just see their faces.

I can't speak for the zeal in service first hand as I haven't been in 2 months now. Woot! I can say that one of the last meetings I went to they said their congregation had between 30% and 40% of their publishers in the 1 - 5 hour range for the last year. If that doesn't say apathy, I don't know what does. -

Tv's in Kingdom hall
by dothemath inso now that the borg has taken all of the congregations money, there was just a resolution to get all new tv's, etc for the stage for the new meeting format.. i wasn't there, but it was a large sum.
somebody mentioned over 3000$.. all the congregations in the city are likely doing the same thing, and are getting all the equipment from bethel.. i was wondering if this was happening all most everywhere?.
can't see it in third world countries( might not even have internet).

Everywhere that I know of. I think that KHs that can't get internet access will have to download the videos offsite and bring them to the KH. -

The Myth of Two Sides
by Londo111 inwe have heard it said, he that is not on my side is against me... .
in watchtower world this was certainly the case.
watchtower world was fully good, while anyone not belonging to them was fully on the side of evil--classic cult black and white thinking.

... since this could create the impression that the branch office or the local congregations are collecting personal data without consent.
The discontinuing of the S-43 is interesting. I wonder if that's in response to people being upset like the deaf are in many countries? Remember the New Zealand article where the branch rep lied about not having a database. I wonder if it be discontinued in other countries as well.

Congregation average
by dothemath ina while back at our co visit, he commended the cong.
because our average hours had gone up.. we went from around 7.3 to about 7.5. i recall the days when anything less than 10 was considered awful.. of course now, they don't even print the hours in the km or anywhere.. i was wondering how these numbers compared to other congregations?.

The congregation I attended recently when I started to fade had their local needs. They reviewed what the CO asked them to work on. 30% - 40% of the congregation was in the 1 - 5 hour range. They also had a high number of 0, 1, or 2 RV publishers/month. This was the second time that the CO had asked them to work on this meaning that they had been like this for over a year.
We only went to the one midweek meeting and I haven't been to a meeting since. Yay! I still need to go back though so I can move our cards and hopefully fly under the radar a little easier.

Can an inactive family member hold back a MS appointment?
by Simon Templar ina friend asked me if a man can be appointed a ms if he has an inactive (inactive for 15-20 years) baptized adult child living in his home.
the child lives by the rules and doesn't do anything wrong (jw-wise), as i am told.
i know the child (adult) and is a good kid as far as i know.

An adult child shouldn't hold him back, but it really depends on the elders. By their rules he needs to be "presiding over his household in a fine manner", but adult children are not really under his control even if they still live at home.

Blood Refusal Tragedy Sparks National Outrage
by cookiemaster inso, here's some news from my country.
there was this 20 year old jw girl who was a rookie driver.
she was in the car with her parents and for some reason decided to cross a railroad right before a train was coming.

Is there a source for the Branch Rep's statement? I'd love to show the double-speak to my wife. -

Wilmington Delaware Media report in another Topic
by truthlover insexual abuse by a female member of a 14 year old in the congregation and elders being sued by the county --- now that co's are liable for the elders only - does that mean the elders will lose everything if fines are levelled against them, since the society has washed their hands and separated themselves by setting the co in place??

Not only is there a direct link from branch to CO to elders, but there is also a direct link through the "elder's manual" and letters to the BoE that lists the policies that the elders are to follow. Several of those policies state that they are to call the branch for direction. The only way the WT corp can distance themselves from the actions of an elder is if the elder does not follow the policies that they put forward. -

At our hall anyone who asks is given the password. Most kingdom halls have wifi now. They have to download videos monthly to play during the meeting. Some are announcements and some are special instructions. Starting the first of the year, they will have to play the recommended presentations for the whole congregation. -

Changes to reporting
by Formerbrother inso it seems placing literature is not so important anymore, now that we live in a digital age.. we are being pushed to show videos instead.
this is the new reporting from next month, just hrs and any literature placed in one box and then how many videos you showed in another box.. bib changes for sure..
