A question about fading....
by Tornintwo ini understand that many on this forum are undertaking a slow fade, over months, years even.. can i ask what is the benefit of that instead of a fast fade?.
as i understand it, the elders only have to deal judicially with people who are still active witnesses, known in the community as witnesses, having contact and influence with witnesses etc.
so surely the sooner you stop attending meetings the better.

There are one or two elders in my old congregation that I would refer to as bulldogs, one for sure. If he were to catch wind that I might no longer agree with WT teachings, he may not let it go. So I put on a show. I'm also building up "worldly" friends and would like to keep 1 or 2 of the friends in the congregation, at least until they decide to shun me. I can't make friends at work (work at home), so it takes quite a bit of effort to find acquaintances. -

I wanted to abruptly "fade". I was determined to. My wife wanted me to talk to the elders about my doubts. After talking exposing to them that I was having doubts, I didn't want to raise any apostate flags by quitting cold-turkey. I went back to a few meetings and to an assembly. My attendance has definitely dropped though. I'd move to another area, but can't right now.
My wife wanted to change congregations, so we're doing that. My attendance at the new congregation will most likely continue to decline.

To be fair. They're not advocating preparing for Armageddon with supplies, at least they didn't in my congregation when they had similar announcements and skits. They are actually being practical and helping the JWs prepare for natural disasters. I actually think it's a good thing and wish other groups would advocate the same idea.
There probably is a bit of selfishness on the borg's part in doing this. If the individual JWs have already set aside disaster supplies, the borg will not have to provide them as much when a natural disaster strikes. Since disaster relief is the only way that the borg is "charitable".

Happy Veterans Day! (America)
by freemindfade inpeople have varied and strong feelings about politics and wars, but you can't deny the courage a sacrifice of our veterans.
too often they do not get the honor they deserve.
in this country once they come home their sacrifice and heroism is too quickly forgotten.

I appreciate the veterans. I think too often people equate the veterans with the wars that politicians cause. Veterans have my respect and gratitude. The politicians on the other hand... -

Right after 2 elders talked to me about being in a foreign language congregation and how it was a privilege and I should be there to support the congregation, they had a local needs talk with the exact same information that they talked with me about. Made me wonder if my wife and I were being "marked". -

Samuel Herd's statement about donations and Cialdini's social proof
by slimboyfat insamuel herd made a statement a few weeks ago about halting construction work, laying off bethel workers and reducing printing output: severe cutbacks all round.
he said, like the head of a household, the gb has to make sure the organisation is living within its means.
but he added a very careful phrase, something like: "be assured brothers these measures have not been taken as a result of any lack of financial support on your part.

So, beat the sheep for not stepping up in the congregation, not doing more, etc., but don't beat them up for donations as it might harm our supply of money! -

Still sending hours, RVs, and bible studies to the branch, but not placements or video showings. I think they were probably tired of seeing all the "placements" that were recorded not adding up to reality.
It makes sense, though, as they COs now appoint elders and MS. The branch doesn't need all that info.
On a side note wifibandit's video showing numbers will be through the roof! LOL

Do You Think Any Of The Governing Body Are Contemplating Suicide? Over This Rather Rude Financial Reality?
by Brokeback Watchtower infaithful and always so very discrete in many things but when it comes to the lord's money not so good.. i think as it begins to register in their minds as to what a terrible job they have done as ceos of a large corporation leading it into this condition that thoughts of suicide come from.
not to mention the shame at being a public spetical to the world by the rc.
all these things and more are creeping through their denial as they are forced to face reality.

Nah, not suicide. Maybe one will wake up though! Although I can't imagine which one it would be. They all seem like they drank too much of the kool-aid. Maybe one of the helpers will wake up. Maybe one of the helpers is already awake and is waiting for his call to the inner-circle so he can really bust open the inner sanctum and what goes on.
I've heard that they make the GB members leave their phones at the door, but there are tons of ways to record today. Short of strip searches, there is no way they could eliminate the possibility of all recording devices. I bet releasing some of the meetings of the GB, especially the meetings where they determine "NuLite" would cause an exodus not seen since the early 1900s.
