i have been looking into the research art d. ehrman from the department of religious studies from the university of north carolina.
he makes a very convincing argument that to me proves the bible verses that make women less human was not in the originals.. paul called women by name some of the women were taking the lead at romans 16: 3-16 in verse 3 say fellow worker prisca (woman).
then verse 7 junias (woman) this is interesting some bibles including the new world translation then says who are men or kinsmen this is not found at all in the older manuscripts so the new world translation and any other translation is in error.
interesting.......
thanks Skyman.

i was watching dr. phil yesterday and they had these women on there who have their daughters entered in beauty pagent contests looking like miniture hookers.
i was stunned when i saw pictures of the one 8 year old girl: more make-up than tammy faye baker, hair pieces, false teeth, fake tan and totally slutty outfits.
she looked like a plastic barbie.
These mothers are basically playing "dress up dollies" with their little girls, they need to grow up!
These mothers are miserable monsters who are hurting and exploiting children. The children should be removed from the home before permanent damage is done.

well, it's just about 12:30am here in newfoundland right now, so north america is just reaching valentine's day.. to all of my fellow jwd-ers out there in north america who are just starting valentine's day, and to all of the jwd-ers in other parts of the world who are probably all done with it by now.... happy valentine's day!!.
whether you're sharing it with friends or family or a special someone, i hope everyone has a great day!!.
Thanks, all, for the good wishes! Did I ever mention that I have a flower shop?
Wholesale cost of roses = $0.57 per stem (inc. shipping) = $6.84 per dozen.....
Retail price of roses = $4.65 per stem / $54.99 per dozen.......
As of last night, 158 dozen roses sold........
So far this morning, 23+ dozen sold........
plus...........we're sold out of flowers now, so I get the rest of the day off!
Indeed it is a HAPPY day for me ,,, Hope you all enjoy your Valentines Day!!!
I think I'll put a little extra in the donation box tonight!!!

a friend of mine living in upstate ny told me that dc's for this summer will be held in the 4 local jw owned assembly halls instead of a large stadium such as yankee.
this means much smaller, and presumably more dc's during the summer since most of these places i.e.
stanley theater can only hold about 4,000-5,000 people.
Actually, the rent for most venues the Society rents is practically 0.
Well, then, if that's the case, then XBEHERE is probably right, they DON'T want deal with the WTS! Those venues ARE in business to make money.
SilentWatcher, that's surprising! When I organize and make convention arrangements for some large corporations, several places (including Nassau Colesium and Yankee Stadium) have said they don't donate facilities or offer better prices to specific organizations.
They've also always required that we pay union scale to their employees to perform certain specific building-related jobs, as well as pay them to be present during the functions, even if our own employees are there.
I'd be really interested in seeing the official WTS cost breakdown for the DCs ... it would help next time I negotiate a contract ... would you be able to get post it or tell me where I might find it? Thanks,
Willow

It just makes better business sense to hold them at their own assembly halls, and the congregations probably appreciate the WTS being thrifty and thoughtful.
And I do think it has to do with comfort. Having them locally will save many the exhorbitant costs of hotel expenses, travel time and expense, parking fees, etc. Not to mention that a local WTS-owned assembly hall is a more comfortable and spiritual setting than a dirty hockey or baseball arena.

I think it's simply a business decision probably based on economics. It's very expensive to hold events at large convention centers, especially in the NY/NJ area. The cost of required union labor is high (example ... $85 for a union electrician to replace a burned out light bulb!) and also places a lot of restrictions on the event.
One can only hope that this means local venues such as Yankee and others do not want to deal with the WTS anymore.
The convention centers really don't care who holds the event, as long as the bills are paid. While some individuals might despise the WTS, business arrangements are just that -- business.
Then, too, it's also possible the WTS is trying to make the DC more comfortable to the attendees. There's certainly been enough complaining about the conventions, maybe someone's listened.
