Bee silly but not stupid
by BlessedStar inhowdy all.. it's amazing how modernized the world is now.
i'm wondering if any of you people think that computerized and new technology is taking away the fun of natural life?.
eg 1. children are behind computers games more than playing in the park.

I agree and apologize if what I said wasn't nice.
It seems people are constantly criticizing and challenging how others live or behave... and how our children are being raised. I guess I got defensive about it.
But you're right, SWALKER. That's why I don't post here much. It's difficult to find nice things on this forum.
Yes, BlessedStar, we do have picnics and love them. We often pack up food and go to the beach or park. We sit and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, talk to other friendly people, share our food with them and the birds. Sometimes we fly kites. Sometimes we take the ferry to New York just to have a picnic in Central Park. It's relaxing and fun.
And no, I don't think technology takes away from natural fun. There's a purpose for everything, it just needs to be kept in balance.

I get sooooo tired of hearing people (seems like mostly old people) repeat that generality. I know many children, including my own son, who would rather play outside. But my son doesn't always play in the park, he also plays outside in his own yard, or the beach, or in the woods, or at a farm -- is that okay?
The ones harping about the kids and computers are often the same ones yelping that the sky falling.
Anyway, people choose where they want to be. If they choose to eat junk food at a computer or get eaten alive by bees at a picnic, so what?

I'd save up a bucket of bird shit and keep it by the door. . .
LOL Finally Free!!! You could rig it up over the door with a rope and pulley so when the door opens the pail would tip and dump the stuff all over them. (I've seen Wyle E. Coyote, Super Genius do that sort of thing, it works)
That would be funny no matter who it was -- the tax assessor guy, Avon lady, neighbor . . . could keep you amused all day!

PAYPAL ACCOUNT SET UP FOR DONATIONS FOR LAWSUIT AGAINST THE WATCHTOWER
by SHUNNED FATHER inthankyou for wanting to help.
i believe i have a good chance of winning this lawsuit.
the watchtower lawyers are defendants and have tried three times to have the lawsuit thrown out and have failed.

sf, thank you for posting that, it really does help.
So why don't some of you help this man set up a website, so he can fully explain the story and channel the donations through it? I don't understand why it would need to cost thousands of dollars, people get websites for these purposes all the time and they cost next to nothing. But even if it does cost that much, use the donated money for it.

If that's the case, Rig Boy, and it probably is, then you should all help Lawrence Hughes go about collecting the money he needs the right way. Help him establish a legitimate channel for donations and a legal and public accounting system that will prove the legitimacy. He will collect more money and there will be no doubt as to the credibility of his request.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and the understanding that he's desperate and sincere in wanting to help others.
But to ask people to blindly send money, the same people who have criticized the WTS for collecting untold sums of money with questionable accounting for it, doesn't help his cause. Someone, other than the trusting folks here, is going to question and find a flaw in the way he's funding his cause. You all who believe in him need to help him avoid further hurt.

It amazes me that anyone would even so much as consider a request such as this, much less support it.
It also amazes me that others have been removed and banned from this forum for posting comparatively innocuous statements and harmless requests.
It reminds me of last Easter, when some guy posted a website explaining that he would have to eat his pet rabbit unless he received enough money to continue supporting it and himself. The guy collected over ten thousand dollars before anyone blew the whistle. He was far gone by then.
Many reading this are the ones who are proud of having figured out the supposed wild and wicked ways of the WTS. This one just isn't that hard to figure out. Come on, people. You've got to get better at this stuff if you want to survive out here in the real world.

Locks of Love--Can you ever imagine JWs doing such a thing?
by rebel8 intoday hundreds of people are volunteering their hair for an org that provides wigs to cancer pts.
the today show in nyc had a few folks allow their long hair to be cut for donation and there are hundreds in another locale doing the same.
there are even little kids doing it!.

They wouldn't do it for recognition as JWs, they would donate as individuals, same as anyone else. When I said earlier that the sisters donated their hair in my name, it was their personal protest to the brothers complaints about my being bald. What the sisters did was never mentioned publicly, but the brothers stopped nagging me about it. So maybe those sisters did do a couple of good things.

Frannie, it has to be a minimum of 10 inches and there are some other requirements. Check the website
www.locksoflove.org/
all the donation requirements are listed there. Many hair salons know the requirements too.I have known JWs who donate hair. When the brothers complained about me attending meetings and sitting in study without covering my bald head, two sisters donated their hair in my name. I suppose it was a kind gesture, only I didn't wear wigs because my head was too sensitive.
Since then, I do know a few other sisters who have donated their hair for Locks of Love.
Certain salons offer free or discount haircuts for the hair donation.

No Animosity
by general ini will begin by stating that i have been an inactive jw for about four years now and i currently have no plans on returning to the organization at this juncture.
i have read many of your experiences with the jw's and wts and i can certainly understand the rage, hatred, depression, anxiety, and sense of hoplessness as a result of your association with the jw's.
personally, i have had simliar experiences with the jw's such as an elder constantly chastising me for every "bad" thing i did by always informing me that " if i continued on the course i was on i would be destroyed at armeggedon.

Hi Nick, it's wonderful that you've found success and are pursuing life goals.
I take exception only to your statement "As regards the JW's and their organization the WTS I feel no ill-will towards them even though by right I should." Why should you? You made your choices, and now you're finding happiness and fulfillment in something different. Why would you want to remain angry, bitter, spiteful or anything else that harboring ill will brings about? You've done the right thing in leaving the bad behind and taking the good with you.
I too think it's nice you found this board. Perhaps you will share more of your genuine and refreshing perspective! Welcome.
