  an anonymous young man with a family is described as quitting a job because it interfered with meeting attendance.

  can you see yourself taking a similar step if you were in circumstances like his?

  This reminds me of how they always encourage the young people "to take a year off" after they graduate high school and enter the full time ministry. (I did it but simply b/c around that time college was still highly discouraged and I didn't know what I wanted to to do with my life anyway.)

  I wonder how many of those young ones take a "year off" and actually end up going back to school? Can you imagine Little Susie going to mom and telling her she wants to quit pioneering to go back to school??

  Finally Free-Been there, done that. I was out of work and turning down job offers that would have interfered with meeting attendence™. I was firm in my conviction that "Jehovah would provide".

  I feel you on this one! Imagaine how hard it is for me as a college student to find a job that fits into my class schedule but on top of that it has to fit into my meeting schedule too.

  I've had to turn down countless jobs because as mother says: "You can't miss the meetings!"

  But she is the first to complain about my father still having to give me gas money!

  people from all over the united states enjoy the taste of a samoa cookie or a thin mint.

  in fact, during the winter campaign of the girl scouts of the usa, people spend millions of dollars on these delicacies.

  linda* (*not her real name) said that she buys no less than 18 boxes of the cookies every two weeks during the campaign.

  And its so true! I used to get "counseled" from the goody goody witness girls my age for having Girl Scout cookies.

  this thread is for those who joined on their own....not those who grew up as jw's and dragged into it.... in my case, they seemed to be alone preaching the good news of the kingdom to be on earth and heaven.

  they called god jehovah or yhwh.

  they preached door to door like mathew 24:14 said.

  it may have already been talked about here but i just saw it last night with some other "apostate" friends.. wasn't it amazing in it's similarity to the borg.. my favorite scene was everyone reading together "dick and jane" talk about a great watchtower study depiction!

  LOVED THAT MOVIE!

  I had a date who took me to go see it but I went to see it a second time by myself. (I was so distracted the first time cause Octupus Hands seemed to be all over the place.)

  Great movie though. The similarities were so real that it gave me chills.

  Everyone has good things to say about the Villiage which I think I will rent this weekend. Is it scary?

  What about the voice of husbands? Wives need to listen with deep respect. The same Greek word is translated at Matt 10:28 (“And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul”) as fearful. Not a morbid fear, but fearful in the sense of not wishing to displease, because of love.

  That is not why we go to our meetings. Just as at dinner, we don’t always get new dishes. Often it is the same food we have had before. At our meetings, we get the voice of God over and over again so that we will know his voice when we need to know it; quickly, without hesitation
