So, if 30% don't find a job in their chosen field, I'm betting they do find a good job in a closely related field, one they wouldn't get without the college education. He's not telling that part, that you will likely get something close to what you wanted and it willstill pay a lot more than a menial job without college! And, that is just initially, upon graduation...a person can keep trying to find the exact position they trained for, ya know, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!" Oh, that's not in the New Whirled Translation, lol!

Higher Education
by XBEHERE inhello all...just cant stay away from you...hehe .
at our recent co visit, at the elder/ms meeting where co goes over a branch approved outline with us he spent 10 min on the subheading "avoid snares of pursuing higher education"...something like that, my notes are at home but you get the gist.
he essentially spent the time bashing university education citing among other things that a full 30% that go to college dont find employment in the field that they studied in.

How did you meet your spouse?
by serendipity inin our local sunday paper, there's a regular feature on how married couples met.
i've been touched by some of the stories.
i'm curious as to how you met your spouse.

My husband and I were sent to training by our company, along with several others. They put us up at a n extended stay hotel that served a free evening meal at the clubhouse, and we hit it off. When the classes ended, he suggested we could still have dinner sometimes. I said I wasn't interested in dating anybody, to which he said, it would only be dinner, and definitely not a date. That fooled me, and we dated for about nine months when he asked me to get married, I said I had no intention of marrying anybody and he said "O.K." On the third time he asked me, I said "Yes" and we've been married for five years.

perspective on growing up in a jw family after i had my son
by limbogirl incurious to see if anyone else can relate to this....i've been away from jw-world for many years yet really began to have a lot of issues resurface for me when i became a parent two and a half years ago.
.........specifically, i began thinking a lot about my parents raising me and i'm just blown away at the way in which they chose to fill my head with jw teachings from such an early age.
i can't imagine ever teaching my little boy about wicked people, demons, satan, destruction at armageddon and so forth at such a young age.

I remember that awful orange book with the Armageddon and destruction pictures of the wicked, bodies flying and grimaces of pain and fear on the faces, They would sit me down to look at the pictures and keep quiet during the meetings or in the cargroup. There were talks from the platform about Satan and demonic everything! I was bothered by terrible nightmares as a child and would wake up shaken and screaming "Jehovah, help me!" They called them my "demon dreams." 'Oh, she's having another of her demon dreams. Nobody seemed to draw a connection to the topics of the meeting earlier that night, and my nightmares. It truly was barbaric, but considered perfectly normal to expose the children to those topics at a very young age.

Our trip to London, England and Paris, France -- Pictures!
by cruzanheart init was a wonderful trip!
in addition to showing our children the famous landmarks, we were able to have lunch with narkissos in paris, and with englishman and ignored one in england.
narkissos has no problem with his picture being posted (i don't think the others do either, but our jw friends were with us too that day and are in the pictures so i don't think they'd want their photos on an ex-jw site -- at least not yet!).

One of the biggest reasons I had to run like hell! As a teenager, I could see the "eligible young brothers" in the Kinkdumb hall were dumber than rocks, and how could I be in subjection to them? Nope, wasn't about to marry them!

It won't get any better! The poor little mites are just bored out of their minds! And yes, they are hinting that you can't be an elder if your kids aren't perfect little examples. I grew up an elder's child, and the stress made me physically sick. Please think about not putting them through this misery! Show them lots of love and allow them to be children.

Overcoming objections/annoying the householder!
by Virgogirl inat the doors, did you try hard to keep them talking?
we thought the longer we could keep them listening, the better our chances of "striking a chord in their hearts!
sister virgogirl: " good morning, we were just visiting our neighbors this beautiful morning!

At the doors, did you try hard to keep them talking? We thought the longer we could keep them listening, the better our chances of "striking a chord in their hearts!" For example:
Sister Virgogirl: " Good morning, we were just visiting our neighbors this beautiful morning!"
Harries Householder: "Oh, did you move in across the street?"
Sister Virgogirl: "No, but all of us are neighbors in God's eyes and we are here to share some good news!"
Householder: "I'm just leaving to take my sick kids to the doctor, I can't talk now."
SV: "Oh, wonderful! Then you'll be happy to hear that soon, God will wipe away sickness and we will live forever in perfect health!"
Householder: " Oh jeez, my kids are yelling at me to hurry up! I have to go."
SV: "What perfect timing for me to have stopped by! Did you know, the Bible shows us how we can raise our children to be loving and respectful of their elders? Let's turn to a scripture at... OH! Guess she closed the door on me! Well, not everyone has a hearing ear. Let's go, Sister Knocksrealsoftly! Some of them just don't want to hear the message!"

My world was often cold and unloving. I was an outsider at school and when I wasn't at school, there were constant meetings and service that I really dreaded.I was an elder's daughter and had to be the perfect example at all times. I had to turn around and around to be inspected for proper attire before getting into the car for meetings. One day, I just stopped eating. My stomach hurt constantly and I had no appetite. I dropped to 94 lbs. I was 17 and I now know it was from stress. It took alot of medication and finally moving out into my own place for me to recover. I nearly died from the stress and the toll it took on my health!

Let's all bow our heads in prayer.
