this is supposed to be an outline for a jw funeral talk.

i'm not sure if this has been posted before but i thought i'd post here for your viewing pleasure.

It surprises me that they don't change their view on birthdays. Birthdays would be ok only if you barely mention the one whose birthday it is and if there is a 30 minute member-drive *ahem* I mean, "talk".

hi there, new to the board.

i was raised a jw but as i got older i started thinking for myslef and now i am at the point where i need to figure out what i believe in.

sorry the intro is so short(kinda busy) please help!

Awww....I see. Of course they want you to go now so they can convert you. Then they would tell you that you would have to choose your job or them.

Who else has trouble making friends?

haven't posted here in a while, but i"ve been out now almost three years.

just looking to hear from others who have had trouble making friends due to a childhood of jw antisocialism toward the real world.

it's really starting to piss me off that i still keep people at a distance and do things to nip any new friendships at the bud when it gets that far.

If someone breaks into your house and threatens you, you can protect yourself. To take a life though is supposed to be a last resort. I remember that just the act of carrying a gun shows that one is ready to take a life. There was a big push in the congregations that I attended to not even own a gun.

Because if a witness was to ever shoot someone, he would be "blood guilty". I remember someone being counceled that they shouldn't take a job as an air-traffic controller because if anything ever went wrong and planes crashed, they would be blood guilty.

there is a "sister" from our hall who has been one of the only ones who have tried to keep in touch with me.

she sends me all kinds of funny little things.

but today she sent me a little note that said, " this is so great.

I've been there several times. Ozomatli rocked the place a few years ago back when they were only a little L.A. band. I've been looking at the pictures to see if I recognize anyone, nobody yet.
