Not really. I have no one to celebrate them with so no point.

by Quarterback ini could never understand how some who don't follow some of the moral restrictions in the jw faith, are strong against celebrating the .

Good idea! I'll start one. It's going to be called Iehovah's Observers. Because in the Latin alphabet, Jehovah starts with an I.

I was one of those that drifted away. Got more and more depressed with it, knew I could never live up to the standards they set(meaning that I felt SOOOOO guilty for not being the completely over zealous OCD type that I thought I should have been). When I finally made the decision to leave I still fully believed it but had to get away or I would have killed myself. I knew I was going to die at Armageddon within a few years(this was 1994)but I had to get out. To this day I still find out things about my upbringing and how it has affected my whole life that make me say, "Wow! now that was f^(%ed up!"

"The 1st Amendment will protect Watchtower, in my opinion." And we have the 1st Amendment right to use their own words against them. Funny how that works.

The impact of Governing Body policy on higher education: read this!
by Terry inexcerpt:.
does your religion affect your income?by mari cockerell, ktxs newsabilene, texas -- the pew forum on religion and public life recently put out the results of a survey on wealth and religion in the united states.. you may be surprised to learn which religious groups in this country have the most and the least wealthy members.an infographic produced by the folks at www.good.is breaks down information gathered by the pew forum on religion and wealth.
it maps out distribution of income for the 14 major religious groups in this country, charting those whose income is less than $30,000 a year all the way up to $100,000+.. what they found is interesting.the religions whose members earn the most money are jews and hindus.

If the elders did respond it would be the typical, "it just goes to show that we put god first in our lives and not money."

'Apostates' being labelled 'mentally diseased'. Is discrimination against mentally disabled people by using it as a 'hate crime' term?
by punkofnice insorry if i'm not expressing myself very well but i wasn't allowed an education due to wbt$ regulations.. what i'm trying to say is that the wbt$ using the term 'mentally diseased' as an insulting term against those fictitious 'apostates' they want everyone to 'hate', is surely very discriminatory against those that have a genuine mental illness.. it's like calling a white person that has caught a suntan the 'n' word isn't it?
offensive, inappropriate and utterly destructive.. in the uk the press can be pretty sensitive about such name calling that implies that mental disease is somehow to be used as a hate crime word.. is it worth writing to the press to complain about such discrimination?.

Social Isolation & The Witnesses
by minimus inthe truth is that jehovah's witnesses purposely try to insulate their own members.
they want their own to be "no part of the world".
they do not sanction unnecessary association with "worldly people".

But, but, but....I've heard that the definition of a cult is a group that follows a charismatic man. The j-dubs definitely do NOT fall in this category! How was the donkey show?

Watchtower admits Bible Teaches Trinity & hellfire!
by williamhconley inthe wathtower admits that by reading the bible alone without their help, people will believe in the trinity, hellfire, visible return of christ, heavenly hope for all christians etc etc.. here's the quote:.
"from time to time, there have arisen from among the ranks of jehovah's people those, who, like the original satan, have adopted an independent, faultfinding attitude... they say that it is sufficient to read the bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home.
but, strangely, through such 'bible reading,' they have reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by christendom's clergy were teaching 100 years ago..." (watchtower, aug. 15, 1981, p. 29).. why would people revert back to christendoms doctrines unless the bible actually teaches them!.
