Flipper- I can listen to the Reality album for days. Ever hear on the extended album the updated Rebel Rebel? I can't remember if it's only on the extended or not but Queen Of All The Tarts is also a sweet one. -

I have had Blackstar (the album) on repeat since Friday. What a masterpiece.
I love the meme I saw that basically said: The earth in 4.5 billions years old. Be glad that you can say lived at the same time as Bowie.

Watchtower 1973 - "Dinosuars WERE on Noah's Ark"!!! College educated response??
by Witness 007 inwitnesses hate college education, and why would you need one when you have our "spiritual food" the watchtower answering science questions.. watchtower 1973 july 15 p.7 questions from readers.. "when did dinosaurs go extinct?
-they may have disappeared during the flood of noahs day.
not all of them were of gigantic size.

I wonder if seeing the movie Jurassic park woke anyone up. They might of happened to watch that, did some research and found the idea that the universe is 49,000 years old or so to be ludicrous.
Not to derail the topic, but has anyone seen if or how they explain new stars being formed now? Those darn scientists throwing a wrench in the works and showing how god isn't done with the "creative days".

How did you feel when you found out "the truth about the truth"?
by stuckinarut2 inso when you first found out specific facts about the organisation, how did you feel??.
the un membership.
the way 1914 was calculated from pyramid measurements.

Like Londo, I felt relief.
I had already left and hadn't been to a meeting for many years before I stumbled upon this site and eventually read COC. Eventually the relief turned to being pissed off since over the years I've seen how being raised in the cult has affected me. But oh well, at least I'm out now and not wasting my time with meetings and field service.

November Study WT "Train You Child to Love Going Door 2 Door"
by JW_Rogue inbeen catching up on some jw reading and found a gem in the november study wt in the first article, paragraph #11:.
yet, you might look beyond the obvious and ask yourself, does my child enjoy the ministry or only the breaks?
if you discern that the ministry could be more interesting or more rewarding for your children, set goals with them.

Puke worthy.
Reminds me of Terry's post a while ago about how they are amateur theologians. Off in their own world thinking they have some idea that they know what they are talking about.

Nicolaou- I watched Dark Water last night. Thanks for the recommendation. Fun movie.
I'm looking forward to the new series Lucifer. Based on a DC Vertigo comic book. I'm hoping it's better than Constantine. That series had my hopes up when it started, (especially in the first episode when they showed my Dr. Fate's helmet, one of my favorite comic book characters) but sadly didn't seem to keep the momentum.

Noah's Ark
by Darkknight757 inso i'm reading the book "the atheist book of bible stories" and something just occurred to me.. noahs ark rested on the top of mount ararat.
how the hell did all the land animals, dinosaurs and other monsters get to ground level?
did noah and his family just push them off the mountain and hope for the best?

I'm just going to continue knitting my shawl and look over my glasses condescendingly and shake my head at you all not accepting one of gods great miracles. -

If I've been testy lately, here's why.
by cappytan inmy parents are visiting for not-thanksgiving.
dad started bringing up spiritual stuff and i almost screwed up my fade.. it's so hard to have a genuine discussion about the issues in the organization when you have become an atheist.
it feels icky and disgusting to have to pretend and nod your head at such platitudes as "you just need to have faith"..."trust in jehovah"..."jehovah will correct it"..."remember ray franz?
-
Spectre
Must be maddening.
How does he think that jehovah took care of Ray and what was corrected?

Cracked under pressure
by breezy ina big problem i have always had when talking about anything related to jw teachings, is that i get aggravated and frustrated when logical black and white concepts/scriptures are not seen/interpreted in a logical way.
it really frustrates me having to hear '' oh no this does not apply here '' in every scripture that i bring to my parents attention.
starting from when i was 16 to about 20, my frustrations would lead to these anger fits.

Have you looked into maybe taking a critical thinking class? Identifying logical flaws helps. Of course it sounds like it might go over your folks heads but for your own sake it might help.
