It's all part of the "if you read the Watchtower and Awake for a couple of years, it's the equivalent of a college education." I guess that about does it for my health class.

Why are there so many "Should Gay's Marry" ads?

recently i've noticed that about 90% of the large ads are asking the question: "should gays marry?".

any particular reason?

was there a comment made at a meeting that finally convinced you, this is not right?

for me a couple of months ago was in the service meeting, they stated that if the children didnt finish their homework because they were studying the bible or at a meeting that teachers should understand that their meetings and study are more important.

i looked at my wife and went "what"?

I remember a talk where the elder was saying how horrible it would be if while saying a prayer before sleeping if we fell asleep. "That's like hanging up on God." Uhmmm....if I feel like saying a prayer for so long that I happen to fall asleep, is God really going to be so pissed off at me if I don't say all the proper "in Jesus Christ name, amen?"

The same guy once said at an assembly, "Don't tell me why you can't pioneer, you go home tonight and tell Jehovah why you can't pioneer." Ohhhh, ouch, how am I going to squirm out of that one?

What Decisions Did You Make Only Because You Were A Witness?

i believe that most jws are deep down inside angry over the fact that they went along with the status quo and the majority just to be accepted.

some witnesses would like to have a tattoo, a mustache, a shaved head, a beard, a new red sportscar, etc.

but they don't because they would be viewed as "immature".

If I had supportive parents I could have been an artist or an architect. My mom and step-dad wanted me to finish high school back in 1984, but why bother? "the end of the world is right around the corner." Fortunately, I eventually went to college and got some education but in the late teens and early 20's is really the time in which it should be done.

Super Powers

The Beyonder? someone is aiming high. Tricky question though just picking one. Just thinking of this reminds of the scene from mallrats. I'll go with "the word of god" like The Preacher on this one.

I left about 11 years ago still completely believing everything from the WTBTS. It was after I took some college classes that I started to doubt everything. I read CoC a little over 2 years ago and that really was the final nail in the coffin. Where Ray Franz still believes the bible though, I don't.

Have I been red flagged?

i find it very weird that in 13 years, not one jw has come knocking on my door.

i don't live in my home town and have had no contact with witnesses ( besides my mom) since i was disfellowshipped in 1992. is it possible that my mom ( still a witness) has alerted the local kingdom hall and had me placed on the " do not call" list?

or maybe i just live in the area of slacker witnesses?

The "territory" that you live in has probably been held for all that time by someone that just won't give it up. Is it in a nicer part of town with a lot of shade trees? or in a rural area with a lot of driving inbetween houses? I always remember working in the same old apartment complexes, knocking on the same old doors, but always seeing certain parts of town that were off limits because that was sister so-and-so's territory(who never went out).

i saw that other people had done this and i figured it would be a good way to introduce myself.

i've been reading many of the threads and let me tell you that it's comforting to read that others feel the same way i have felt about being in the organization.

i'm not sure how much i can contribute as far as delectible tidbits of information, but i have replied to a couple of threads to, if nothing else, interject some 'humor' into things.

Welcome. It's nice getting some of that out isn't it? I recently wrote out a rant that I put up on a group that I'm in over at myspace and it felt good. I almost feel like rewriting and expanding my rant. It's nice too know that you aren't alone in what you've gone through.
