  i have had a quick look and found no references to this, so - here goes..as in the mag we picked up on sunday.. worldwide % increase over 2004 = 1.3%.

  memorial partakers 8524 (compared to 8570 in 2004).

  most european and nth american lands show pretty static figs - britain 1% increase, canada 0%, germany 0%, france 1%, usa 0%... but spare a thought for the inhabitants of zambia where 1 person in 90 is a reporting witness, must be hell going down to the local market!

  Blondie, Thats a funny thought cause I don't think they told them.

  Glitter, The WTS doesn't think the generation of 1914 has to be alive at armageddon as you pointed out but they do believe there has to be at least some annointed left alive. These could have been born after 1914.

  The report is supposed to be only witnesses who turn in time regularly. So those out for years are not included. Strange though, before I left they started putting names of people who had not been to meetings in years back into bookstudy groups.Entire families in some cases. Some bookstudys would have 15 or 20 people listed but only 6 would be there.

  The number of partakers is relevant to their doctrines because currently they believe armageddon will come before all annointed are dead. On account of the chosen ones(annointed) those days will be cut short(tribulation)

  That is why I feel they are being squeezed by time. They still need armageddon to come soon or they will have to start changing major doctrines. If they can wiggle the great crowd to become the chosen ones by extension somehow they may get by. The great crowd can run the org, serve on the governing body, etc.

  I saw a quote from a WT where they quietly applied the scripture about the glorious ones, which had always been the annointed elders, to elders in general. It may be a start. In any case requiring the org on earth to be run by annointed only can't last much longer.

  in a post by ingenous on another thread (scandal frenzy, i think) some quotes are posted about "sanctuary trauma.

  " it hit me in kind of a big(-ish) way...being hurt by those who should be protecting or nurturing us is a betrayal of sanctuary.

  the trauma experienced is called sanctuary trauma.

  if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?

  My turn. Just wanted to chime in on this historic thread.

  I have had problems logging on to the sites server due to volume. As someone mentioned it is likely to get worse as The Big News approaches.

  Could we have alternate locations to view it "in advance" so as not to be left out if the server goes down?

  Anyone with another site that will post the info?

  Would an Book on Rutherford really be worthwhile?

  i have to make a decision now as to continue researching judge rutherford with a view of writing a book, or just let him go (after all, he died 63 years ago!

  what do people here think?.

  It really is true that ex JWs know more about the WTS than active members. That is because we can read what the WTS releases to its members AS WELL AS other sources of information the active JWs are "encouraged" to avoid.

  So many times when I have JWs around I am thinking to myself; " I know something you don't know".

  Bedridden morbidly obese people

  every now and then i see a news article about a 600 pound man or woman who is so fat they are bedridden and cannot get out of bed.

  they normally need a family member to clean them on a regular basis and feed them.

  i once saw an article about a man whos skin had literally bonded with the fabric upholstery of his couch and needed to have to fabric surgically removed.. ive been sitting here wondering.

  I just saw a show on this. A man was 1,072 lbs. Thats right. He hadn't left the house in 7 years. Probably hadn't gotten out of bed in close to the same. His wife cleaned everything up if you know what I mean. His skin was stretched to the limit so it would no longer hold in his body fluids and he leaked. He had open sores everywhere. He was suffocating from the weight so his wife called 911. They tore a wall down to get him out. They needed a forklift and specially constructed stretchers.

  He actually did well in the hospital. They put him on 1,200 calorie a day diet and made him "move". He dropped to 600 and lost more once they stapled his stomach.

  The wifes Pastor said he felt her continuing to feed him all that junk was the same as assisted suicide.

  She said if he didn't get what he wanted he was nasty.

  I'll give people a break with saying overeating can be genetic. But one doesn't have to choose potato chips and cinnamin buns. Thats being a pig.

  " it instructs parents to indoctrinate their kids to refuse blood and make themselves a martyr.

  this, to me, was one of the most chilling sentences in the article (paragraph 3):
