Rocky Marciano, when we were in NY for a convention, we ate at a restaurant where he was seated close by. I was probably 8 or 9 years old. Shook his hand.

what rules do you follow when pronouncing foreign names/places/things?
i was remembering that when we were studying the daniel book for the book study back in the day, someone released a pronunciation guide.
i remember studying it closely so i could pronounce all the names right (especially on the section of daniel 11).
We had one brother in our hall that was obsessed with making sure that everyone pronounced Philistines correctly. He was certain that you put the emphasis on the second syllable. He would correct and chastise anyone who did not use the approved pronunciation. Strange. No one wanted to say the word...knowing what his response would be.

30 that seems to put jw's at a cross-roads?
i've known so many who have decided to abandon ship at either the age of 30 or either after 30 years of being baptized.
i fall into the former category.
I was 38 when I started the journey out.

the help-line is no longer operating.
marilyn is not well, and her voice is failing.
it has been hard for her to keep up with the help-line.
Bumping one more time for anyone who hasn't seen this. The 899-why-1914 helpline started in the 80s by BRCI as a way to help anyone with questions or in need of help in relation to the jws. Marilyn is a counselor, and helped many on ther journey.
It existed long before the internet. It's an end of an era.
