i was 13 at the time.
i wanted to get baptised before the end came in 1975. .
back then, 13 was borderline young for baptism, but from what i've been reading, some are now getting baptised as young as 9 or 10. .

according to the st. petersburg, florida times chet, who played outfield for 16 seasons with the chicago white sox (1975-81) and detroit tigers (1982-81) is now a coach at eustis, florida.
the article discusses his conversion to j.w's, an operation on his spleen and his refusal of blood transfusions, as well as his baseball career.. see "triumphing over death every day: nearly killed by rare blood disease, all-star chet lemon has bounced back to coach eustis to the state title.".

My son attended a baseball camp a he held a number of years ago. My ex (still a dub) went with him. My son was at the stage where he refused to go to meetings any more. He was 10 or 11 at the time, and my ex tried to use it as a way to get him back in again... didn't work, but my son had fun at the camp.

They go so far as to look into the so called "pagan origins" of everything from birthdays to wind chimes. We had to read labels on food packages to see if they contained the slightest amout of blood. Our lives were put under the microscope.
Yet, here they are profiting from something an average jw would be disfellowshipped for.

Hi Robdar,
Yes, they had a radio station, back in the Rutherford days. On Staten Island, I believe... long before I was born. I used to have a recording of him on that station, but I have no idea what ever happened to it. They called him the "man with the golden voice".

my daughter (12 years old) has expressed her need for a psychologyst.
she told me she wants to see one that would keep her secrets only without revealing them to her mother or myself.
she felt betrayed with her old psychologyst.
I went through a lot of the same with my son when I left the borg. His father was/is a jw. My son used to come home from meetings crying...terrified that my daughter and I would die at armageddon. He was about 9 at the time. It took a while, but he watched the video "witnesses of Jehovah" and that did it for him. He was out by the time he was 11. He talked to Marilyn a couple of times, and it seemed to help. Today he is 21 and in College. There's hope. Don't give up.

I would try to contact Marilyn at the Why 1914 helpline. She is a counselor, and lives in Milwaukee. She may know of someone in your area. 1-800-why-1914

in reply to: why do jw keep track of hrs?
Anyone who has ever worked in outside sales knows of the "call report". It is a way of accounting for your time and productivity as an employee.
Just another way the society proves themselves to be nothing more than a corporation with millions of unpaid employees.

we all have wished that if we had just one more chance to make a decision and could have changed things, we would have done something differently.
is there anything that you would have changed in your life if only you could?
