Srimad Bhagavatam, one of the ancient scriptures written even before the Bible
When, exactly, was it written?
with the bulletin of atomic scientists moving its iconic doomsday clock up 2 minutes on 23.01.2015 (which means we are just three minutes closer to midnight in comparison to 17 minutes to midnight in 1991), and rapturewatch.net/timelines.htm predicting the end of the world as early as 2017, subject of last days is getting heated up again..
next time you have a witness boasts about the uniqueness of biblical propheciesespecially about last days, you can point the following photographic description of our times found in srimad bhagavatam, one of the ancient scriptures written even before the bible:.
1) religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, duration of life, physical strength and memory will all diminish day by day because of the powerful influence of the age of kali (age of unrigteousness).12.2.1.
Srimad Bhagavatam, one of the ancient scriptures written even before the Bible
When, exactly, was it written?
just when you think you've heard it all............in my research for my project, i was doing some digging around on the subject of the 144,000 and came across something in the wts's literature that absolutely stunned me and, being the generous soul that i am , wanted to pass it on to you to get your thoughts on this.. .
we all know that the society teaches that the 144,000 mentioned in revelation is speaking of "spiritual israel" and not 'fleshly israel' or even other christians in general right?
there are countless quotes throughout the literature that we are all familiar with that specifically state this, but to drive home a point, here are a few:.
Fascinating thread.
The way that the WTS will twist the Bible to fit their views is extraordinary. In fact this quote here reminds me of them:
The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit the views.
did anyone notice this wt's subtle attack on wikipedia?
they wrote (from the 2011 yearbook of jehovah's witnesses, pp.
9-10. source: 'tracing all things with accuracy'):.
Hmmmm. That WT frames it this way:
"The Writing Department follows the pattern of ‘tracing all things with accuracy.’ But where can reliable information be found? While the Internet is a convenient and quick source of vast amounts of information, our researchers do not rely on blogs or poorly documented Web entries written by unidentified or unqualified persons. For example, Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, warns that some articles on its own site ‘contain significant misinformation, unencyclopedic content, or vandalism,’ adding that ‘users need to be aware of this.’ Thus, the Writing Department looks to standard reference works, articles written by recognized experts, and books produced by respected publishers."
How a Wikipedia user frames this point (example here: Wikipedia User):
In every article, links will guide you to associated articles, often with additional information. You are welcome to add further information, cross-references, or citations, so long as you do so within Wikipedia's editing policies and to an appropriate standard. You do not need to fear accidentally damaging Wikipedia when you add or improve information, as other editors are always around to advise or correct obvious errors, if needed, and the Wikipedia encyclopedia software, known as MediaWiki, is carefully designed to allow easy reversal of editorial mistakes.
Because Wikipedia is an on-going work to which in principle anybody can contribute, it differs from a paper-based reference source in some very important ways. In particular, older articles tend to be more comprehensive and balanced, while newer articles may still contain significant misinformation, unencyclopedic content, or vandalism. Users need to be aware of this in order to obtain valid information and avoid misinformation which has been recently added and not yet removed. (See Researching with Wikipedia for more details.) However, unlike a paper reference source, Wikipedia can be constantly updated, with articles on topical events being created or updated within minutes or hours, rather than months or years for printed encyclopedias.
Love the way they leave out the context around newer and older articles. I mean, this can't be because of anti-JW articles surely?
Also interesting to see that the above link is years old (from 2007 if you look at the bottom of the link, not that the WT highlights this) and the newer Wikipedia About main article frames it differently again:
Wikipedia is a live collaboration differing from paper-based reference sources in important ways. Unlike printed encyclopedias, Wikipedia is continually created and updated, with articles on historic events appearing within minutes, rather than months or years. Older articles tend to be more comprehensive and balanced; newer articles may contain misinformation and/or unencyclopedic content. Any article may contain undetected vandalism. Awareness of this helps the reader to obtain valid information and avoid recently added misinformation (see Wikipedia:Researching with Wikipedia).
I wonder if the Writing Dept helped last year to rank JW's so high in the The 8 religious pages people can’t stop editing
Deary me - it's all so confusing!

It's atheists (plural) not atheist (singular) I can assure you. Or do you think that there is just one atheist (singular) on this site?
Your username is singularly ill thought out as well...
yes- everyone has faults and makes mistakes; an organization even more so.. yet, you ignore all the fingers pointing at you.. many here have no faith.
many here go to churches who lie about everything biblical; look at x-mas!.
but at least we know god and christ and try to live up to their name!.

I would LOVE to be called to the back room for this- and would plop down a Recorder and say- is this because I take Jesus's words about a SINGLE generation as true?
I don't get you Doc.
You say the above, yet in previous posts you say agree with the WTBS in that the Kingdom began to rule in 1914. You must realise that a generation doesn't last a 100 years?
So how do you reconcile this contradiction?
i have updated the article at memorial partakers with the figures released for 2014. no surprises here, it has risen yet again, this time by 6% over last year, and is now 14,121.. .
.
Thanks Paul.
About two thirds of the way down, there is a paragraph that states:
As of 2010, it is 75 years since the calling was said to have closed...and so the youngest anointed from 1935 are now already 90
Could this be updated to; As of 2015, it is 80 years since the calling was said to have closed...and so the youngest anointed from 1935 are now already 95
It brings the article nicely up to date.

Those religions are complete fabrications.
How do you know?

Wiz- your denial is tragilarious. WE didn't make up that name. However, you are corrtect on the baloney the WTBS has ADDED to the good news. Yet Churchianity doesn't even KNOW about the good news..
This isn't about whether JW's invented the word Jehovah - it's about the accuracy of that word. It's a made up name. Why would God want an incorrect rendering preached? How is preaching the wrong name any better that using LORD?
And if the WTBS was God's Organisation, why is he allowing 'baloney' to be added?
Ucan't- I have ALWAYS taken the WTBS dates with a BARREL of salt- however, 1914 IS pinpointed in Daniel's prophecies. The meaning as to what it signifies is what's at dispute.
1914 is NOT pinpointed in Daniel prophecies. To get there you start at 607, which is, as you might say, baloney.

We have made God's Name known again- when Churchianity & Judaism almost wiped it out.
Jehovah is not God's name. In Hebrew scripture the Divine Name was represented by the tetragrammaton. The closest to that in English is Yahweh. The big problem with the word Jehovah is that it is a hybrid word derived by combining the Latin letters JHVH (for the tetragrammaton) with the vowels of Adonai (which means Master or Lord). It's simply a made up name. Imagine that the translation of God's name in English was Bill and a group went round calling itself Walters Witnesses, saying that they were preaching God's name which they say is Walter whereas everyone is wrong as they call him LORD. It's irrelevant that they spend a colossal amount of time preaching - it's still a nonsense name.
Jesus foretold that in the end times the good news of the KINGDOM would be preached to the world.
The JW version of this goes as follows. Around 1914 there was a war in heaven, and Satan and his followers were cast out. Jesus Christ began ruling as King in 1914 and 1914 therefore becomes the start of the Last Days.
We don't need to even start on what the future holds. The above is all based on 607 being right. It is not. So this means the Witnesses have spent countless billions of hours preaching the wrong date for the war in heaven, the wrong date for when Christ took up reigning and the wrong date for the start of the Last Days! And peoples reaction to this unholy mess is how God will judge them as worthy of life or death?!
It's a shambles. How can this in anyway contribute to 'vindicating God's sovereignty?' How does God getting his people (or allowing his people) to preach false dates and then killing billions who don't listen to such nonsense prove his right to rule?
So it doesn't matter about Trinity's or whether other doctrines are right or wrong.
Once you've understood all of that, read up on the mess which is the Christian Greek Scriptures. And then you'll realise the whole thing is an utter waste of time.
