i am a believer in christ have been df'd since 7/01, but left the jw's in my heart for some time before that.. i feel that the gifts of the spirit didn't end in the 1st and 2nd century but should continue until the church is no longer on earth.. i have been to serveral different christian groups and have heard many speak in tongues, but to be honest i'm not very impressed.. it seems to be, not supernatural,.. but more like the reaction you get when you jump in very cold water, and get a terrible chill that makes your jaw vibrate.. the women seems to be the most prominent ones in speaking in tongues, so i wonder if it is just an emotional response, more than any thing else?.
and if paul said to limit the speaking in tongues to just 2 and only if there is an interpeter, why does the speaking in tongues become so prominent at these meetings?
and how come i never hear a translator interpet what is said?.

i have a bad problem where i sore all night.
not just on the inhale, but on the exhale as well.
can anyone help me as my partner finds it hard to sleep.. any suggestions????.
They have doctors for this stuff, man. Go see one. I did. Spent years sleeping fitfully and feeling drugged throughout the day because of missing REM sleep. Bad apnea. So back in April, after proper testing by a sleep clinic and a recommendation, I had surgery to correct some sinus and nasal deformities. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. My whole life changed. Look into it, man.

PS for those who remember it: that's the operation I posted about that almost killed me when the bleeding wouldn't stop. That scary development aside (it was a problem with high blood pressure), the operation's results met my highest hopes.
since leaving my life as a jw, i have often wondered about life after death, and have come to the conclusion that it is highly improbable that man was given life in order to conemplate what happens after death.
also, i have never seen any evidence for life after death.
what i do see is that when one is severely brain damaged, it reduces a capable and dignifyed human into a block of chemical reactions within a combination of material substances.
What made me realize that we are purely physical creatures, not a spirit being housed in a physical body, was discovering how drugs function in the brain to cause changes in emotions and behavior. Electrical currents properly placed can do the same thing.

why do kids love wellies so much?.
we went to buy liam some new school shoes and clothes yesterday and both lads wanted to buy some wellies - liam got green tweenie ones and dylan got red thomas the tank engine ones.. they wore them when we got home and didn't take them off till bedtime.

Simon, in one of his books about his life as a Yorkshire veterinarian, James Herriot tells about his son's love for Wellingtons. He was in the habit of taking his boy with him on simpler calls, so bought him a pair so that he could negotiate the muddy, mucky farmyard environment. He describes how his son went proudly stomping about the house and yard, splashing in puddles and such.
A couple of times his son acted up at a customer's place and James had to corral him. To try to get him to straighten up, he told him, "It looks as though I'm going to have to find another young man to accompany me on my rounds."
He related that his son continued at what he was doing with nonchalant unconcern, until suddenly a startled look came on his face and he looked up at his dad and asked, "Would he get to have m' Wellingtons?"

my teenage son approached my husband and me yesterday to inform us that he wants to get baptized at the summer convention.
ugh!.
he hasn't shown an interest in witness things for several months until a cousin from up north came to visit and took him out in service all day.
Uuuuhhhhhh, WHO pays the bills at your house?
The implication is that if you pay the bills, you get to say what the inhabitants can and can't do. Does that extend to JWs who pay the bills and say their kids can't go to college, must pioneer, and can't take part in normal teen activities such as school sports?

how many thousands of bible characters did we have to learn about?
now out of all of them, if you could pick and mix, which ones would you like to see together forming a pop band of their day, what tracks would they be performing, what genre of music and dare i ask for some lyrics, though i'm not sure if thats a permissable question, (oops, sorry god).
peace.

yesterday, when farkel announced his departure and shunning of us all, i was incensed and outraged.
in fact i had similar feeling's to those day's 20yrs ago, after being df'd, where former friends and relatives, just simply said 'your no good, your not worthy of my/our attention anymore' turned thier back's and walked away from me.
then witnessed farkel ignore the sweet comments lilac's writes just for him....made we want to ring his neck.

TGIF takes on a whole new significance when you say, "Thank god it's Freya's day." (She's the goddess of love)
Personally, my favorite has always been Woden's day, although I prefer to pronounce it with the variant spelling, Wotan's day. It just has a nice ring to it.
Well, it's hard to shake the vision of the Moody Blues earnestly belting out the praises of -

Tiw's day afternoon
Come Saturn's day morning,
I'm going away with my friend...
Moon day, moon day
Can't trust that day
Moon day, moon day
Sometimes it just turns out that way
We shoulda kept it on Thor's day, Thor's day,
Thor's day in the afternoon
For a couple of beers
And a game of pool
Groovin'
On a Sun's day afternoon...

why are we just to accept that loosing friends, aquaintenance on the net is Ok, just a rite of passage? I am sick and tired of losing people. I am tired of having to say goodbye, to anyone.
We're to accept it, Dan, because there's nothing else to accept. Mean and painful, yes, but it's the way life is. People come and go. They touch our lives for a time, usually for the better; and then one day they're gone. We move away, or they move away, or they quit their jobs, or they die of some terminal disease, or they are killed in an accident, or they die of old age, or they run off with a lover... somehow, they go.
Eventually we learn that life is best lived in the moment, in the here and now. We learn to savor all the joy of a moment while it is passing, rather than telling ourselves, "I'm too busy now... I'll enjoy stuff later."
And, hopefully, we become the best of friends with the one person in all the earth who will never, never leave us. That would be, for each of us, ourselves. We'll be with ourselves, inseparable, until the day we die. What a wonderful life it is, if that person we'll never leave is our dearest friend.
Life is just to damn short.
Amen, brother man. But it ain't over yet. Gitchasome.

a trip to wol.com will only present you with a farewell notice.

it saddens me to have to close the site, however, doing so will also help me to improve my own circumstances that have been so hard for me to deal with recently.".
I don't see the point of a kamikaze flame post on a place like that. It gets deleted and you get banned, and maybe 10 people read it. Big deal.
Wouldn't it be more inventive and fun to parody witness life? To become the terminally correct MS, or the perpetually positive airhead pioneer sister? No matter how positive a post is, Sister Vacuous can outdo it for cheer and goodwill. No matter how accurate a statement may be, Brother Spock knows more information on it, or has a timely admonition about blind obedience to the slave.
That would be the route I would take, if I did fake names on boards... which I don't.
