Living a Balanced, Simple Life
by WTWizard ini have heard this as a title for a talk at a grand boasting session, as well as the theme in the puketower.
the tower renders this as meaning balancing theocraptic activities.
they always seem to mention balancing street work, door to door, not at homes, calls, and studies.

Did you lead a double life as a JW? Are you leading a double life still?
by Bumble Bee inas a jw, alot of us lead double lives.
i know i did.. in talking about our situations with my sister in law, realized that i now lead a double life as a "fader"!!!
my husband and i are "out" of the religion (my brother, sister in law and the kids too) but for the sake of family, they think we are still "in" although they know we are not active.

"Except the occasional serious groupie couple that no one wants to have over for dinner because everything offends them and they just want to sing kingdom melodies and talk about experiences from the yearbook"

Were You Treated Unfairly In The Congregation?
by minimus inthere is clearly a caste system in the organization.
there is a pecking order.
certain classes of people did not associate with those not of the same ilk.

I won't recap everything.
There is an old blues song -- "Why Am I Treated So Bad?" -

I came here, and found out that what I thought was a local problem was actually a global problem.
Then, I found out about the pedophile protection plan (PPP), the Tacoma Parking Scandal, etc.
I am a pagan now. -

Any Comic Book Fans?
by gaiagirl ini'm a fan of several: tomb raider and danger girl (both about smart, capable women) ghost (similar to above, and a very good mystery about her background) hellboy metal men (recently returned for an 8 issue run, and the basis for a new movie in the works)

Off and on.
I am about to go on a reading spree. I found out my library (as it should!) has an extensive collection of graphic novels and comics.
Support the local public library system with donations of time and/or money.
The public library is one of the greatest institutions. People think books, but remember, that was the only way to record information back then. Now, technological advances have enabled us to store information on microfilm and microfiche, cassettes, compact discs (CDs), digital versatile discs (DVDs), and free access to the INTERNET.
The public library is one institution worth supporting. -

Those who escaped are very diverse:
There is no pattern to our intellect, time in the so-called truth, "privileges of service", religious/spiritual path taken afterwards, sexual orientation, etc.
I can honestly say that it means a lot to be able to read posts from people who understand the weirdness that I was subjected to and subject ed myself to in the name of truth.
