It is more due to the fact that they kicked the mentally-disturbed young man out of their equivalent of Gilead School, and he went nuts.

If you do decide to use PayPal, get a business account or premier account so you can get a debit card.
You get instant rebates on your purchases. 1% I believe. When I was on an extended business trip, I paid my hotel bill with mine. -

Self Deceit and Faith.
by hillary_step inthis thread is inspired by a comment made on another thread, but i thought it would make an interesting discussion.. self deceit is described as a "misconception that is favorable to the person who holds it".
my premise is that faith is a form of self-deceit - lying to oneself.. so, i would ask of the "faithful" the following questions and would request that they be read carefully to ensure no that there is no misunderstanding of purpose.. 1) in what way is faith not self-deception?.
2) is a person who has faith in a god that you do not believe in, say for example siva, practicing a form of self-deception?.

Who said mudskippers changed?
Just because they combine the functions of some very distinct organisms doesn't conclusively mean anything, only that they are some very interesting creatures.
Same with the archaeopteryx. -

Anyone watch Paranormal State last night?
by lovelylil ini don't know if it will be as good as ghost hunters but i did a little research on it.
there is a real club at penn state that center around learning about the paranormal.
that is where the idea for the show sprung from.

I heard about it, and did some research on that Penn State club, and then looked at the capsules for the double episode debut, and a review.
I didn't watch, because from what I saw, it was not going to be scientific enough of a show to be any good. My thought was it should have been more like that great show Mythbusters, but it is not going to be.
It looks like an Abercrombie and Fitch version of Scooby Doo instead. -

Searching for the truth is never an exercise in self-deception. We continually revise our thoughts on the nature of the universe as we gain information.
Holding/espousing a view in the face of irrefutable evidence (e.g. Flat Earth) is definitely self-deceptive. -

I could just answer directly, but that won't be all that fun.
I will start with indisputable science/technology history that we all know, then let people think about it and let it marinate in your cognitive juices.
If someone told you 80 years ago that you could cook food with invisible electromagnetic radiation similar to radio waves, where a suitable container for the food would not even get too hot, but the food could get very hot, you would not believe them. How could you believe that? Nothing supported believing that using the currently available scientific knowledge. How can one thing get hot and not the other it is resting on? What kind of magic/magick is that?
But that microwave oven (magnetron) works pretty good, huh? -

Tree of life identified as the female Cannabis plant
by Ronald ingenesis 3:22&23 says god put the man out of the garden lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat and live for ever.
cannabis seed is the most nourishing human food known to science.
there are good reasons to conclude that the tree of knowledge of good and bad was the male cannabis plant and the tree of life the female cannabis plant, the one which bears the seed.

Spyware ticks me off
by dinah inthough i'd post something with nothing to do with our latest scandals.. my virus software popped up this morning, and my puter is full of spy-ware.
so i'll be spending the rest of the day cleaning crap out.
i checked the internet explorer history, all i found that was suspicious were a couple of game sites my son visited yesterday, and my daughter was looking around on ebay.. these people should have their eyeballs plucked out and shoved up their rear end, imho.

Run Firefox, not Internet Explorer (Exploder?). It helps.
Game sites (for cracks, cheat codes, etc.) are NOTORIOUS for viruses, spyware, malware, etc. Almost as much as low-class porn sites. -

When I looked at that Scripture, this point always impressed upon my mind:
it takes work to do each of them. Neither is a curse or a blessing in themselves. The gift of singleness implies being single and it not being a problem for you, as with the gift of marriage. Most people don't have the gift of marriage.
