I tried to do atkins diet with hubby last year....no sugar, caffeine, or carbs. I seriously detoxed. I was feeling slightly insane for about 6 days. I was moody, irritable, and irrational. I did start to feel better after that though. I had to do it cold turkey. I can get by without coffee now but I do enjoy my morning coffee soooo much.

Has anybody successfully quit using caffeine altogether?
by DanTheMan inmy anxiety and stress levels are really bad lately.
i think i'd be doing myself a favor to quit caffeine, as it has become a real catch-22 for me, where i need it to stay awake, but it causes me to lose sleep, so i need more of it to stay awake, etc.. i've learned through experience that i'm very sensitive to any sort of chemical substance that affects neurotransmitter flow, and, given my general propensity towards depression/anxiety/paranoia/add, i think that at least one thing i could do to give me a calmer, more stable neurotransmitter mix would be to eliminate caffeine.
i've tried to reduce before, and i've found that i just start making excuses to have a little more, a little more, until i'm right back where i started.. so, i'm just wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience where they felt the need to not just reduce but eliminate caffeine altogether, and if so, how did it go, did it help, how long has it been, etc.

Moving on...
by Zico ini've been reading this board regularly since it was introduced to me in march of this year.
at first, i was finding it pretty difficult coming to terms with the fact that my whole life had been a lie, but really, i suppose there's not much point in worrying about this now, what's done is done, and i'm still easily young enough to make a life in 'the world' despite a slow start.
the problem is that i have no idea how to go about.

Almost all of us here have faced this situation. It will work itself out with time, but it does help to have a plan and work it.
Are you still living at home??? This would make it a bit more complicated. I would probably pull away from things slowly if you are trying to keep some family. Can you finish this "service year" out? Why not quit by Sept. 1st? Tell them you aren't finding it enjoyable, and you want to finish your apprenticeship. I would start to make friends outside of the org. Can you take some classes for something you are interested in? What about friends from High School? Did you keep in touch with any of them?
I would start missing meetings slowly or else do what others suggested and start doing research during the meetings. I would take a notebook and a highlighter and just start reading the gospels and making notes about how the JWs didn't follow any of the things Jesus really taught. Just stop commenting, stop preparing for meetings, stop "helping out" at the meetings, grow some facial hair, etc. LOL! You do have a challenge ahead of you but it is possible to get through this experience. It takes time and patience with yourself. -

Hey Lil,
we sold our first house about a year ago and we did it ourselves! the woman that bought it tried to swindle us but it worked out fine because instead of investing in a realtor we got an attorney to look over all paperwork before we signed anything. The best $300. we ever spent.
it saved us a lot of money not having to pay commision to a realtor, but if the market has slowed where you are, you may want to hire a realtor. -

2006 “DELIVERANCE AT HAND” DISTRICT CONVENTION
INTRODUCTION
According to God's prophetic word and its fulfilment thus far, we are approaching an unprecedented
time of trouble for the present world. Jesus foretold this great prophecy of the conclusion of this system of
things: "There will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning until now, no, nor will
occur again." In view of what was decreed, what position do we as Jehovah's Witnesses, take toward the
world? At times the expression "the world" refers to mankind in general as at John 3: 16; however, the
Bible plainly shows that the term "world" can sometimes refer to human society that is alienated from God.
Note Jesus' words regarding this at John 17:14: "I have given your word to them, but the world has hated
them because they are no part of the world, just as 1 am no part of the world." This is a vitally important
principle by which Jehovah's Witnesses are guided. In view of the foregoing, as Jehovah's Witnesses
assembled at this Deliverance at Hand convention, we make the following declaration and resolve:
1. Because of our love for Jehovah and for our neighbours, we are determined to intensify our
witness to the world of mankind regardless of their race, nationality or station in life.
2.
Having made an unreserved dedication to God, we are determined to give Jehovah our exclusive
devotion. He comes first in our life.
3.
Just as Jesus was no part of the world, neither are we part of human society that is alienated from
God.
4.
Out of loyalty to Jehovah and to his son, Jesus, we are firmly resolved not to compromise the
Bible's righteous principles.
5.
We utterly refuse to become involved with the futile interfaith movements, as well as social
programs and schemes designed to perpetuate a system that God has condemned as a failure.
6.
We will continue to show relative subjection to properly constituted authority, respectfully giving
to Caesar what is Caesar's and rendering to God the things that are God's. We do not take sides
or become involved in political controversies.
7 .
We will resist with all of our strength, the spirit of the world that manifests in it such things as
materialism, unwholesome entertainment, overindulgence in food and alcoholic beverages, the
plague of pornographic material and the curiosity or temptation that lures one into association with
outsiders through Internet chat rooms.
our God. In all these ways we are determined to give evidence of being no part of the world, making that
manifest in every aspect of our life and in our relationship with others. With the help and strength that God
supplies and support from his inspired word, we will maintain a scripturally balanced position regarding
this time of stress and upheaval.
As Jehovah's Witnesses, it is our resolve to remain set apart from the world
in accord with sound scriptural principles. We are determined to pursue this course wholeheartedly so as to
have God's approval. Thus our expectation is to survive the end of this present wicked system of things into
a clean, righteous and enduring new world where we will enjoy God's gift of everlasting life.
All those in favour of adopting this resolution please say "Aye". -

A new "class" for the goobering body.
by IP_SEC inthe wts is fond of associating itself with great men of the bible claiming to be of this or that class (john class, isaiah class and so on).
they claim god given authority to keep his people clean and to make rules to cover situations not found in the bible.. pharisee rule not found in the law.. *** w96 9/1 12 the law before christ ***.
