No way.....that spells your sons name???!!! that is way cool!
I'd love to see a close up of it sometime. I'm still trying to decide on tattoo designs for myself. I recently left the org. and so my first act of rebellion was piercing my bellybutton. I love it! my nose is next or if I can decide on a tatt that's next.
so glad to have you around. Is your son's mom a witness? do you have to worry about him being raised a JW? -

Did anyone hear the expression- If it was`nt for Jehovah I wouldnt stick it
by jambon1 inwhere i live it`s common to hear the brothers/sisters say 'if it wasnt for jehovah i wouldnt be here' - refering to the fact that they are fed up, sick of everyone and they are only staying in the truth for jehovah.
it is normally uttered after a fight in the cong or when someone has done something bad/brought bad publicity etc.
naturally, it is said with a dgree of head shaking.. does this not contradict the idea of a worldwide, supportive & loving brotherhood exsisting among jw's?.

I can't tell you how many witnesses say this! This is what is keeping most witnesses in the org. If you take the viewpoint you have, your character is attacked or you are labeled as having a bad attitude.
IMO this is where personal accountability comes into play. There has to be a line drawn somewhere or you will lose all your self worth and self respect.
You cannot let people keep abusing you and then shrugging it off without it affecting you negatively. -

True Believers
by XBEHERE inwhat percentage of jws today do you think actually still believe all of the doctrines and are trying hard to stick with it because they feel its the truth?
compare this to individuals such as myself who go so as not to arouse suspicion from their families or acquaintances in the cong.
but really do not believe it anymore.

hey XBEHERE-
I know many here don't really want to hear this but I do think the majority still believe it. I think some have issues with *certain* things but the majority overlook those *minor* things and think there's nothing else as good to go to.
I really think people like you are the minority.
just my 2 cents.

Circumcision....How is it justified?
by gringojj ini am unclear on this.
it seems for most religions leave this question up to the parents.
but how do people justify it?

there is another thread right now by kittyeatzjdubs and we were talking about circ.
http://www.circumcisionquotes.com/
it is a totally unecessary procedure. If you all really want to know the origins of routine circ. in the US then read the link. It was a way to prevent masturbation! and to that I hear men the world over say......"well that didn't work!"
Raphael -
UN health agencies have cautioned that more trials are necessary before they will recommend this as a method to protect against Aids.
this is the biggest argument I hear FOR circ. yet this procedure is in my line of work, and like Peacefulpete said.....practice safe sex and it's not an issue. There is more lost than gained in circ. -

Two Number 4s, and a large Cup of...
by RichieRich ina family in my congregation, who has recently fallen on some hard times, just had some hard times fall on them.
last saturday, a very large tree fell right square on their house.

An Observation About Life
by JamesThomas inbeing consciously present in this moment of life's expression, being open and meeting with this present moment of reality, being truly with what is actually here without judgments and mental commentary, does not seem to leave much room for beliefs in deities and their shenanigans.
in fact such imaginings only seem to steal away the vibrant aliveness of here.
so, perhaps, it is when we are not that much present with the truth of life, right here, right now, and rather lost in mental interpretations that we feel a need to become involved in the drama of gods and religion.

mr. thomas and all others in this thread -
I found this thread, read through it several times and it has literally changed me forever. thank you seems to not even come close to the gratitude of what I have learned here. It awoke "me" that I've always KNOWN is there and I'm just starting to find. I've caught faint glimpses of her throughout my life but to fully just "see" her I needed to take the step of removing the JW label and what that entailed to me.
I breathe a breath to all of you know, and then I breathe to me.

Believers, please define your 'God' if you are able to.
by nicolaou indo you still believe in the god of the bible or some vague supreme being?
do you believe in god and still consider yourself christian?
do you believe that jesus is part of some godhead?
-
freedomlover
I can more define what he is NOT than what god is to me. He is for sure not the god of the OT or the NT and he is not Jesus to me. I actually have had the "god is love" thought in my noggin' for weeks now. Not that THE GOD is love - rather that love (the pure, undefiled, living power of love) is god-like to me. That's about the closest to "a god" I've ever come.
I will never stop reworking my beliefs. I'm a morphing mind all the time......so check with me again next week! he he he -

I'm so sorry for your loss. These are the stories that make you realize how damaging the WTS is to people and their families. I'm truly sorry for you. I think Mark would be very proud of you today for seeing your way through all the haze and coming to the conclusions you have. In this way you are honoring him and his memory.
