Did You Ever "Tell Off" An Elder or Circuit Overseer?
by minimus ini know of very few that would "dare" tell off a co but elders were different.
having been an elder for many years, it was very easy to go back and forth with a fellow elder and basically tell him he was dumb.

Nope, but I was damn close once. I stopped in mid-sentence out of respect for the fact that this guy was as old as my grandpa! I just couldn't say anything that rude to an elderly man.

"Are the rules that hard to follow?"
by rebel8 inoften i hear jws claim that people leave the borg because they cannot follow the rules, implying that anyone who leaves lacks character, self control, and/or moral values.. often i hear jwd posters--me included--say the myriad of rules in the borg is one of (not the only) reason they would not follow the org.
virgochick said it well in the "how do you feel about the name j----?
" thread:.

Yep...and that's what wore me out.
I was in 4 different cong. in 10 years and the rules and regulations were different for each one. If this was supposed to be "the chosen org." then shouldn't EVERY cong. be uniform in it's policies. It was so depressing because I was looking for unity and to be a part of something good, but I up killing myself just trying to fit in.

Nascar - Tony Stewart
by Moomin indoes anyone else have a massive crush on tony stewart or is it just me?
i hope it is just me.

Yeah! A nascar thread!
Yes, I love Tony Stewart as well. When I first started to watch Nascar a few years ago, I didn't like him at all. He seemed arrogant and was always having issues with other drivers. BUT now....everyone is in fights all the time and it can be mildly entertaining I think he has matured some and man...he's such a good driver. When Tony won the race in his hometown last year, I was so happy for him. Last year I couldn't decide whether I wanted a Kasey Kahne (another cutie), Mark Martin or Tony hat. This year, I've decided to get a #20 hat when they're back in Atlanta. Wooo- hooo. You should visit so we can go to a race together!!!! It's unbelievably addicting!!!!!
Tony and his chubby self can drive me around the track anytime

Were we Gullible? Weak? Lonely? Plain Stupid?
Yes, Yes, Yes, and Probably Yes!
I had just gone through the worst year of my life, at the tender age of 21. My bf left cause I was pregnant, and then I miscarried. I had lost my apt. and had to move back in with mom which was like death to me then. I was smoking weed like nobody's business, then had an extremely bad trip on acid. I didn't have a good job (stock room at some store in the mall where I made it an art form to steal things). I had NO IDEA what I wanted to do with my life and thought it was pretty much over. SInce I had nowhere else to turn, I auctually made the phone call to go back to studying.
I wish now I could've gone back to those days and made a different call. I still get angry about it sometimes, I dont know if I'll ever get over being a dub totally. But man, I wish I could!

SITTING ON THE BACK ROW..............NO, NOT AT THE MOVIES, AT THE KH
by vitty ini know we've heard a lot of horror stories about jcs and getting disfellowshipped.........................but what is your experiences of continuing going to the meetings to be reinstated.............what did it really feel like?.
did you mind being ignored or did you understand it and take it on the chin?.................................what were your familys treatment of you during the period of having to sit on the back row????.
when i saw ppl comming in late and leaving early .....................i just knew it was wrong, wrong , wrong to treat ppl that way.. in fact i got told off for smiling at a sister who i knew genuinly wanted to come back,( the pos wife told me ) i did it out of human feelings and was then blasted.. after she got reinstated, i was the first person she came upto and introduced herself.

I always sat on the back row and I was never df'd!
I remember 2 people who were trying to get reinstated. One was the son of an elder and he was always sitting right next to his family.
The other girl, I always felt so bad for. I mean, what the hell, trying to get someone to "come back to the truth" by ignoring them? Yeah, that's the way to do it.
