We are in the County, the city starts 7 houses down from us and there they are restricted. Everything is legal for us except Bottle Rockets, so every year we launch everything we can. Some of our neighbors try to out do each other so we all get involved in doing our mini displays and every new years, and 4th we have quite a show going.

Are fireworks legal where you live?
by free2beme inwe went out and bought about $100 worth for tonight and are going to have fun.
i know that in many places they are not legal, as i used to live in california and they were a major "no no" unless done by a professional presentation.
here they are legal, as long as they are not something that leaves the ground or launches.

Should witnesses eat evil pretzels?
by Plummet ini was looking up recipes for the breadmaker when i came across this.as early as 610 ad at a monastery somewhere in southern france or northern italy, monks used scraps of dough and formed them into strips to represent a child's arms folded in prayer.
the three empty holes represented the christian trinity.
it has bee said they were used as rewards when the child memorized their prayers right.. .

The pretzel ages ago was a good luck symbol, hid like Easter eggs, and even used in marriage ceremonies.
I'm not to sure how true it is but I thought you would enjoy it.

By the way does anyone here have any good recipes for a breadmaker?

Our Bookstudy conductor went on one night about how in the paradise, after we fill the Earth, that God would allow us to travel in space to fill other planets.
On another bookstudy night he brought up that Satan started World War 1 and 2 with the sole purpose of destroying the witnesses.

They are getting something in return. I was told by brothers here and by family that live near there and by my friends family that live in Long Beach that the Society did a lot of work on the Long Beach Facility. The City provided the materials.
The Society provided the labor, free volenteer witness workers.
In exchange for FREE USE of the Long Beach Facility for the next 20 years.
That what I kept hearing anyway.

Did the Witnesses you know, see "Fortune Cookies" as evil?
by free2beme ini was in a few congregations growing up and like many things in the organization, rules were often regional.
one of those issues i remember and it was something i always got a kick out of, was people's reaction to fortune cookies at chinese food restaurants.
i had not run in to it as a child, and then i moved away as a young adult and was studying with witnesses to get baptized and they would try to make me feel more welcome, by inviting me to meals with other witnesses in the congregation.

Wow
I have not heard or seen that before. We have always read the chinese zodiac and our fortune cookies passing them around the table to see what everyone else got. Thats crazy. My parents hosted quite a few out of town speakers and the Chinese Buffet was always an easy way to go. The only reason I have seen a brother or sister refuse a fortune cookie is if they didn't like the taste, but they would still open the cookie to read the fortune.

I might be able to in Late in the summer IF we end up going. I have tried to record DCs before for older Brothers that could make it. Unfortunatly the recordings never worked out, they were always too muffled and sounded screwy with the echo. Would a new pocket recording device sound any better? which brand/type/model would you recomend?
