My dear and close friend Bill died a while back and because his little nephews loved to come over and watch SpongeBob with him they put...
Sponge Bob on his GRAVESTONE!!!
Isn't that weird? But cool. God, I miss Bill- ...just the guy to have Sponge Bob on his headstone :)

What I did was start calling #s in the phone book.
Look under "Churches" and go on down past the Baptist section til you get to Buddhist... Most offer courses- there is a charge most times cause they are all volunteer run, I guess.
I called and asked what kind of training they held and what tradition it was in (they are all quite different- you really need to find which one is good for you- some are not in English, some are all meditation, etc).
I think it is better to actually call the center so you can have an actual conversation with a worker there. You get a much better feel for how the classes are than from a website.
It was a nice session. I do have quite a bit of trouble quieting my mind- as important thing to learn how to do...
I just wanna know how to concentrate, be happy and be NICE to people.
Harder that you'd think...

So what exactly IS the unforgivable sin...?
by Kudra in.
apologies if this has been covered before... .
but is it apostacy --- not being repentant for anything (no matter what the "sin" is) --- saying *something* (i forget what) about the "holy spirit"- this last one seems sorta familiar... .

Crappy color scheme! (Except for the wall the painted bright red- which doesn't exaaaactly match the rest of the seafoam/mauve decor)
There were all these stackable chairs... I wonder if they came with the property?
I thought the address sounded familiar (from when I tried to find a KH for the Memorial) and when I saw it it clicked, the dubs at the other hall in my 'hood had said that the "downtown hall" closed down.
Ooooh, I guess the "spiritual water" of "Babylon the Great" ain't exactly running dry... Or are they-? ha ha.
Anyway, I've signed up. My life needs a little organization (not BORGanization) and last time I tried following a Buddhist way of life things went so well for me. I just don't have the discipline to do it on my own.
About half-way through teh session I stopped being creeped out by being in an old hall.
And at least the sessions aren't held on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

Read the transcript of her statements to the media- there is definitely someting waaaaaay wrong there.
Major Stockholm Syndrome.
Her life is going to be holy hell when (or if) she ever comes to grips with the gravity of that situation... -

Nathan Natas- funny- You are always so irreverent... it's great.
You told me on this other board, when I had not totally been able to see the JWs for what they were that "You have the No. 4 talk on Stockholm Syndrome".
I actually looked that up and thought about it... it helped me on the path to the normal world...

So I can relax... Right?
If it is for something that I don't repent over ---then all I do is repent when I see the big A a-comin'. Problem solved.
If it is the mere commission of apostacy, then I'm f***ed and it doesn't matter WHAT I do now... so I can go have fun- eat drink, you know the scene.
Such weirdness...

climate change/global warming
by BlackSwan of Memphis inok well this is one of those topics that's pretty much common knowledge.. the earth is warming, the ice is melting and sea levels are rising.. a) do you think we'll be able to take care of it before it becomes irreversible?.
b) do you make decisions in your life that reflect a concern for this issue and/or other environmentalist issues?.
i try to make sure we recycle and turn off what isn't being used.

Update...:
So levels of CO2 are now higher that they have been for the past 800,000 years. The range in CO2 for that time period was between 180 and 300 ppm- we are now at 380 ppm.
Methane was never higher than 750 ppb but it is now at 1780 ppb.
I think one of the more interesting things is that the rate of increase in CO2 in the last 800,000 years never exceeded 30 ppm per 1000 years but now it has risen 30 ppm IN THE LAST 17 YEARS.
Two different things are happening- high levels of CO2 and astronomical rates of increase of CO2.
Interestingly we have no conditions that we can directly compare this to, so... I wonder how the earth will respond to this?
The planet will keep on tickin' but us renters might be in for a bit of a time... (especially in the "low-rent" districts if you know what I mean)
